The chain could need adjusting, and / or lubricating. I know they become very noisy when they are dry. Is the chain rubbing anywhere? (Tyre or chaingaurd)?

Have not changed the battery in my kawasaki w650 before and have no idea how to do it. Could you please describe how to do this.

Remove the seat (probably one to three bolts at the rear of the seat) to find the battery. Remove the hold down bracket ... disconnect the wires - pull the battery.

If you will go to the Kawasaki rider site, I believe there is a better description of this procedure.

Have you checked the compression, and valve clearences ?
If so then there is a carburetor clean an ballance and/or air cleaner to look at.
Also might pay to put a new set of plugs in before tuning.

Carburetor ballance make the difference between smooth as silk and vibrating pig on my twin.

I put a new battery in my 1999 suzuki katana but still have no power going through the bike

Get or make a test light and start tracking. This light needs a wire to ground and a probe. Wire in series, through the bulb.

Clamp ground end on the negative battery terminal. touch probe end to positive termimal, and witness light illuminate. (<< Done at the start of each testing evnet, really annoying to be treaking stuff with a dead light..).

So now you move the probe along your wiring, and witness power along the way. Eventually, the light will not light, and that is an area to explore.

Now, the types of areas that need testing are multiplugs, switches, and terminal blocks.. You cannot get to everywhere, but you do need to get at the key switch area....Your bike may have a main fuse. If this has failed, something pretty heavy is wrong, somewhere. you need to handle BOTH things. Not always easy access. Look for places where stuff moves, flexes, or is exposed to water.
