Shift fork problem im thinking. But we dont want to go there, change to a synthetic oil 20w50 and if your already using that type then do an oil change to see if that wont help it a bit. I've noticed that everytime i change my oil the shifting gets a "little" easier. I used to have problems of mine popping out of second a lot.. when it does that, i change the oil and make firm positive shifts to make sure i dont cause any further damage, and to work/wear the gears together again so the wont slip. After your oil change see if you can skip third and go into fouth then step it back down into third, try this over and over again. Then from a stop try to see if you can normally go into third gear if you cant... well you probably know what that means. let me know if this was helpful thanks.

My ford bantam 1300 doesn't want to select 3rd gear

this manual transmission?
seems. so
the tip of shift levers love to get worn and not allowing the shift rail forks to hit 3rd gear.
a pure simple mechanical failure and is shifter tip end parts bad, some are even made of plastic.
or
3rd gear synchro- ring is super worn out and the main clutch drags. (seen it and fixed them)
if clutch has master cylinder is the fluid always at top line or drops in time every weak.

Having difficulty in selecting 2nd gear on 2013 xvs 650

Make sure the shift pedal is tight on the shift shaft/linkage. Also make sure it's not interfering with the engine case when shifting, and adjust if needed. I doubt it's a transmission issue.

Problems selecting 1st gear peugeot 106 1.1 zest

If the clutch is a problem you will have difficulty selecting 1st only as the gears would be spinning from the engine revs.. I would say that the front input shaft (clutch shaft) bearing is failing allowing miss alignment of the synchros and not allowing proper engagement of the gears synchro rings. It means removal and repair to the gear box so the clutch can be inspected while the box is out.

Sound like you have reasembled something Incorectly, poss selector fork not located on pin, either way i think you are going to have to strip it again, always good practice to try all the gears on the bench, after asembling the crank cases, you could check the gear shaft is located properly in the. no --not normal
it indicates that when gearing down the clutch plates are still engaged and driving the gears making selection difficult
it is from incorrect oil used in the clutch / transmission
take it to an accredited suzuki proficient service center and discuss the problem with them

No third gear!!!

Check the gear linkage adjustment is correct.
Ensure 3rd gear throw is fully engaging when selected.
You can check this without the motor running,- depress clutch and carefully go through the gear selections - ensure when selecting 3rd you can feel selection detent (passing over the syncohub detent pawl).
If the problem persists, and no fault can be found with selection adjustment, you probably have worn gearbox bearings, or broken synco energiser spring internal to the gearbox.
