Can't solve it for you, but I have a 93 also and headlight doesn't work (also, bike doesn't recognize it's in neutral so won't run with stand down). I read somewhere that both problems *could* be shorts in the starter switch on the handlebars: I took mine apart and couldn't see any obvious damage. Hoping to find a mechanic who's willing to take a diagnostic look: Can't afford a fix if it's a transmission issue.

With the indulgence of DickCanFixIt...

Almost always, in instances such as you have described, the main 30Amps fuse of the 93 CB750 (F2P Retro) would have blown. The main fuse is located along with the starter relay. To locate the starter relay, follow the + cable from the battery terminal.

Additionally, once power has been restored, you may want to check the regulator and CDI as they are electronic and therefore prone to damage on reverse polarity.
