If the bike has been sitting for awhile it may be clogged with old gas that evaporated an turned to varnish.

Check your choke cable and make sure it's properly adjusted.

You may have to clean the carbs. Or your coils are not sending spark to the plugs.

You may have a bad alternator. Car died while driving, either gas or fire. if you know about MAFS your should know how to check starter function by jumping solenoid to large post of battery. Check for 12V at the large post on starter. Then try to jump the two connections. If car cranks, I would check ignition circuit for faults.

Engine knocking

hello sir, check to see if the engine is over full on oil and gas in the engine .this will make starter drag eventually ruining starter.this is the only thing i can think of other than engine having high compression except valves not opening and the pressure relief valve not working,or engine low on oil 30 WT, is also important to keep good oil in engine and full. the solenoids under the carburetor will go bad,and cause flooding, if you have one. make sure you keep battery charged. if it is follow these directions ,well it is a simple fix,but a lot to correct problem, parts needed,1 new spark plug,1 new solenoid,1 quart of 30wt oil,1 pan to catch old oil in. tools needed,1 spark plug wrench,1,7/16 or 1/2 or 9/16 open wrench, pen&paper. ok, empty fuel tank or clamp off fuel line, make a drawing as how the wires are connected to the solenoid, white & black wires, unplug wire fittings, remove solenoid, in stall new solenoid, plug wires in. now drain oil & gas out of engine, remove old spark plug, important so follow directions, after oil is drained plug is out crank engine so to clean out cylender of excess oil & gas,it would be a good ideal to let oil drain for a while. add oil & spark plug, engine will smoke for a while but should clear up.when you go to the parts store you will need engine horse power, engine brand, mobel number, type number, parts should cost around 50.00. including everything you need, check oil often you can put a inline fuel shutoff in the fuel line about $5.00, or replace solenoids for $40.00.hope this helps, don't forget the 4 thumbs up,any comments welcome, thank you,,after you need to check this, ``

pull the starter and check it by putting it on a testor or just hooking it to a good(known)battery. If it tests good then check/replace the starter switch and check wires to the switch.

I have a 2002 yamaha r1 that won t stay running if i hole the starter button down it stays on but if i take my finger off it. the bike will turn off. i changed the plugs, oil, air filter, changed the...

Your starter button does two things . It turns off the head light first then it activates the starter solenoid. This design puts more power to the ignition and starter for easier starting. You will have to check your harness carefully. You may have two wires plugged in the wrong places. This is allowing the ignition to only operate when the starter button bypass is working. If you do not find a loose wire or crossed wires then you may be dealing with a dirty or shorting ignition switch that is not routing the power correctly.

My 2002 kawasaki ninja 250 is having trouble starting. (electric start) At first it was just giving me this clicking sound kinda like when your car wont turn over and start. So I replaced the battery for...

The oil light is on because the engine isn't running to build any oil pressure. Sounds like the new battery may need to be charged fully. After the battery is fully charged, and the 'clicking' noise is back (or not) check the battery connections for corrosion--especially at the positive terminal. If ok, you should get one solid click when trying to start. If ok, but still not starting, jump the two heavy terminals of the solenoid (click source) with a heavy wire which should bump the starter motor. If nothing, then the starter motor needs service--usually the brushes inside fail to make contact with the armature due to brush wear, or weak springs. Most dealers will likely only sell you a new starter--no internal parts. Hope this helps!
