Engine smoke on de-cell/let off throttle/

My 03 WR 450 f runs perfect and very strong, when I let off the throttle in a downhill situation riders behind me say that the bike is burning oil. motor is stock with FMF exhaust and recluse auto clutch. I change the oil + filter pretty much after every weekend of ridding. Will putting to much oil back in after a change cause this?.

The cylinder is in the front of the bike and on a down hill the oil in the crank case could be pushing past the ring. Yes, it could be an over full situation. Only run the recomended amount of oil. You can actually rob yourself of power and do damage by over filling. I've already seen a guy blow the soft plugs right out of his Yamaha by over filling the oil. Also, be careful when changing your air filter. It can be very easy to drop dirt inside and that will definately score your cylinder walls and cause permanent smoke. It is most likely exactly what you think it is. Good Luck.

Hello, You have too much oil in it.

Your air filter is most likley soaked with oil and need to be replaced. Are you sure it's a single cylinder?

Hope this helps.

I have a 745i it has 170,000 miles. My situation is that my car starting to smoke through the muffler. After it been running for like have a hour.I'm very worry about it.See if you can help me.

If the smoke is black then the engine fuel mixture is running too rich. This is an easy problem to fix, the carburator need adjusting/tuning.

The blue/grey smoke is most likely caused by engine oil getting into the combustion chamber either through worn piston rings or through worn valve guides.
The smoke generated is at the greatest when the engine has
been idleing and then accelerated from a stopped position. Also when accelerating again after a downhill run.
You need a mechanic to do a compression test on each cyclinder to determine the fault and replace the worn parts.

How do i ajust the mixture on my wr 450 03 model people tell me it is to rich

the quick fix is to lower the needle by a notch, you need to pull the top off the carb and remove needle then raise the little circlip up to the next groove which will lower the needle and let less fuel through.
this may help some but it depends on when the bike runs rich as there are a number of jets that can be swapped to change mixture settings

Throttle bog out

hi,this may help, check the inline fuel filter and the air filter,if it has been sitting that long the fuel filter may have gummed up(a slightly gummy residue left behind after fuel evaporates) the engine will run ok at low and medium throttle but the filter will be quite restrictive once the load goes on,change the filter and clean the air filter and you might find the problem disappears...hope this helps...cheers
