Cheers guys but it's not a key fob, it's a weird torpedo shaped device you press directly onto a small metal disc beneath the immobiliser light. It's an old L reg Saab 9000. Any ideas?
The key fob is not getting detected by the bike.-------
The turn signals start flashing because it thinks the the key fob is not close to the bike.-------The batteries are replaced, but still key fob is not getting detected.------Try this :--- Turn the handlebars to the left and lock them with the key. Once locked, unlock and try to restart, this resets the alarm on my 2008 FLHX.----Try raising the kickstand and let the bike go. And see if it runs.If it runs then kick stand switch needs to be inspected and replaced.---------------This will help.Thanks.Helpmech
Hi it sounds like you have done everything you can do, it now looks like your going to need to get the immobilizer reset, this can be done at most garages but its best if you shop around to see the best price you can get as its not cheap.
have you tried locking the door with the key and then opening it with the key then try the car see if it will work.
failing that its going to need the imob re-programming so that it accepts your key fob, it may just be that you need the fob replacing as the chip inside could have failed they will be able to test all this for you.
let me know if you need further assistance, not that theirs much more i can do without being their with the equipment to test the immobilizer, hopefully it will just be the fob that needs replacing.
you could just try one last thing when you get in the car and put the key in the ignition try holding the fob as close as you can to the ignition barrel as this is where it picks the signal up from so try holding it close to their and see if that then lets you start the car
failing that its going to be a trip to the garage.
plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks
Hi,
Do you have an alarm & Immobiliser fitted on your bike as these drain the battery on your bike very quickly?
If so i would recommend removing your battery and fully charging it with a decent amp-age charger. If you have your garage attached to your house then i would definitely recommend purchasing a trickle charger and when not using your bike keep this plugged into the mains and you should not have this problem again. all motorbike shops sell these chargers If after this the battery goes flat again i would suggest purchasing a new battery.
This is a common fault as most motorbikes sit in the garage through the winter months and if not kept on charge will deteriorate. Hope this helps.
I would take off the alarm and see if the problem goes away. If it does you know the problem is with the alarm. I am in the alarm business and will not have one on any of my vehicles unless they come that way from the factory.
