I had the same problem with my Harley, it ate 3 headlights, at $75 each, I found a short in the high beam switch, and found it by accident, I saw a spark at night when it was dark. Fixed the short, no problem, you might have the same thing going on there, check for a short in the wiring at night. Hope this helps.

Where can I find out the fuel economy for a model year 2000 Yamaha V Star 1100 Custom XVS AMC?

My experience shows about an average of 40mpg. Road, wind, temp conditions, carrying a passenger,. can vary that by 5mpg either way.
If you own the bike you're speaking about, fill it up reset the odometer, put 100-150 miles on it, fill it up again and do the math.
The vstar was an excellent fuel miser, if you plan on doing a lot of your own work, buying a service manual from somewhere like amazon.com for $20-30 bucks, you'll have a sweet dependable ride.

I have a 2002 yamaha v star 1100cc.. Is there a gas light that comes on or do i just have to watch it?

If you set your fuel petcock to "on" the bike will sputter when its low and you can switch over to reserve that has about another 1/2 gallon. I just set my trip meter and get gas about every 175 miles to be safe. 2007 VSTAR 1100 Classic.

My 2008 1100 silverado will not start all lights work it has been sitting a week

Howdy: I have a Vstar and I use a ticklier battery charger if my bike will set for a week or longer. The lights will work but just not enough juice to turn over. Once started the bike will recharde at a high idle. Be sure to only use a 1.5 to 2 amp charger. Sometimes Harbor Freight will have chargers cheap. Your battery should last 3 or more years. For a new battery go to Battery Plus. Ride safe- Doug

I have a 2002 Yamaha Vstar Classic with a good

Twisted bolts on the starter are never a good thing. There is also a one-way starter clutch on the crank behind the flywheel that can be damaged. If it engages intermittently, it's on its way out. Both the starter and starter clutch are prone to failure on VStars... and neither are cheap to fix. Hopefully your bike is still under warranty.
