My washing machine has stopped spinning.. and when it gets to that cycle it's very loud. Is this a simple problem I'd be able to fox? If so, how because I'm getting tired of wringing the water out of the clothes.

This could be a couple of different problems one could be the drive block this is the part that hooks on top of the basket drive assembly and lock that and the basket together. To check and replace you need to remove the agitator and inner tub. The second and most expensive problem is the basket drive assembly this is expensive and hard to get to.This requires removal of previous mentioned items and then you have to tip the machine back, unhook the pump, motor, then unbolt the transmission to get to clutch/basket drive. It could just be the clutch that is the problem but you will not know for sure until it is completely apart most techs will replace the whole assembly to make there are no callbacks for the same problem. Let me know if I can help in any other way.

Not spinning and makes loud noise

Motor coupling failure is the most likely suspect. Easy and cheap to fix. It is a simple rubber "shock absorber" that links the motor to the transmission. Search for washer online and most likely you'll find the part and the easy repair instructions.

Whirlpool washing machine make loud noise after spin cycle quits. Noise continues until cycle winds down. Sounds like a machine gun being fired

Hello, have to tell you that most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping noise during the spin, the load of cloth may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the cloths, then restart the machine. Repeat these steps if necessary.

Thanks

My washing machine makes a cluck sound at the end

Hi,

Not knowing what model machine you have, I would hazard a guess and say it is your break solenoid or break arm or a variation on a break system.

After the spin cycle, the break solenoid or motor engages a break arm to stop and lock your spinning drum. The loud clunk is normal especially in Simpson and Hoover top load machines.

You can check this by putting the machine on a spin cycle. Once the machine gets up to speed, open the door. You will hear the clunck and then the drum stops abrublty.

If that is the case, it is normal and no need to worry about it. However, it you did not have the noise before, then best to get it checked out by a repairer.

Ash

Washer won't agitate or spin out.

Well it is ethier Belt, Cluch ,motor ,Or transmission. But it does sound like your transmission . The loud clunk is the brake in the gear case ( Trans.). It might have broken off.
