I have to say head gaskets on a 3.0L VUE is very uncommon. Perhaps you could have the shop who is working on it explain it better and you could follow up because I have seen exactly 1 VUE 3.0L head gasket leak.
Labor to do the water pump and timing belt should be around 4 hours. Maybe a little more if the water pump leaked and made a mess they need to clean up.
Did you check to see if you have fuel pressure to your fuel injectors??? You probably have spark, just no fuel from your fuel injectors. Check that and go through the trouble shotting your fuel system, common for the fuel pump on saturns to wear out and having weak fuel pressure. Try spraying starter fluid though the air intake and see if the engine will start, if it does. Then you have fuel pressure issues.
Good luck and thank you for using Fixya
sounds like a bad crank sensor, nothing you did wrong, just a common 3.0 v6 saturn issue, its located on the front of the engine block under the car by the oil filter housing,,,like $115 for the sensor
Try pulling the engine coolant temp sensor, They often crack not sure
why but the ceramic tip cracks makes the car hard to start, the car's
idle may race while shifting gears, and often smokes. The sensor is on
the right side of the engine when looking at it on the head. Easy to
change and get too
I do have spark! It just wont start!
