When I went to start my 2005 Heritage Softail Classic after sitting for most of the winter, I found no oil on the dipstick. It was in operating range when I last rode it but now it will not register. Has it dropped down into the engine? If so where do I stand as far as startint her up? The bike has 9,500 miles and no evidence of a leak under it.

Yes the oil will gravity feed out of the tank and into the crankcase. Disconnect the line on the bottom of the engine. Now make sure you put a little oil back in the tank. The oil will come out of the crankcase vent when you start the engine.. Be careful how much oil you put back in it cause it will return a little bit of it. If you do not drain the oil out it will go into the carburetor or throttle body depending what fuel delivery system you have and it will make a huge mess. That's the way Harley designed it for the E.P.A. to keep the oil off of the ground. I hope this was informative.

,How do I check oil on a 2003 heritage classic?.

With the bike standing straight up, pull the dipstick. The oil level should be between the two lines. The lower line is "Full Cold" and the upper line is "Full Hot". Do not overfill.

How do you remove the seat of a 2006 harley heritage softail to replace a dead battery.

usually on the left side, right below the seat there should be a place to put the key when you turn the key it will pop the rear of the seat up, and just lift it off. there is the battery. you should take the battery out every winter season and also follow other winterizing steps with the fluids.

After riding my turns signals ,head n tail lights

Sounds like the battery is shorted. Heat is one of the worst enemies of any battery. On a Softail it's almost in an oven. The day was hot so the engine oil was hot as well. Since the battery sits inside the "horseshoe" oil tank, it is surrounded by hot oil trying to get rid of the heat.

Take your battery to the nearest auto parts house and have it tested. Usually this is a free service.

How to change oil for2007 heritage softail classic

The oil drain us usually a hose with a plug in it that is held by a clip on the frame. It us usually on the right hand side of the bike just behind and underneath the transmission side cover. Loosen the clamp and pull the plug out. The oil will run out of the tank. Replace plug and add new oil to the tank.
