Check engine light comes on.how do i bring up codes,then match code # to problem

p1652 this code is for engine ecu for light code start B -XXXX BCM body control module for your light check wiring or check bulb and bulb make match to the vehicle

Either bring it to a shop and have them clear the code, or disconnect your battery for a few minutes. However if the fault is still present your check engine light will come back on, usually I just disconnect the battery and clear the code on my Explorer.

Bring your vehicle to an autozone or other auto part supply store that can connect a code reader to the PCM and check for an engine trouble code. If the light is coming on, there is most likely a fault code stored in memory. The code will point you in the right direction to start a diagnostic repair or part placement.

a check engine light means the ecu has registered a fault in the car spower train.run a scan on the car. then erase it after u ve gotten the codes. most check engine lights still come up until u get to solve whatever problem the codes bring up. only then will u erase them and they dont come back

Sounds like your O2 sensor is malfunctioning. When the check engine light comes on, the computer goes into a preset mode bypassing the O2 sensor and that's why it suddenly runs good. Have the O2 sensor checked. You can also have the trouble codes read and they should point you in the same direction.

Here is my advice.
Have the reading done by - Auto Zone and also Advance Auto all over again. If the codes match
Take down the vin# - call the dealer and tell them the code. Ask them what it means and - -ask if your vin# brings up and recalls or service needs as issued by the factory. Some things never go out of date.

One last this - your header here says 1995 -your note says 1998. You need to sort that out as well.

you can use the scanner to clear the computer or even disconnect the battery for a minute or two then reconnect it but if the light comes back it needs to be fixed to keep the light off. just fixing the problem won't turn the light off

Those lights always come on whenever the check engine light is on.It could be from the gas cap not being tight enough or an air hose in the engine compartment coming loose. I recommend bringing your vehicle to someone that can read the codes and reset the lights for you. The codes will narrow down what the problem really is.
