T is your throttle stop
l is your low speed jet for fine tuning low rpm.s and idel itself.
h is high speed jet.

basic settings for the L and H jets are one turn out / open

throttle stop will vary but once you have it ideling you can tune that one while you are holding the trottle then go back to the L jet till u got it running sweet. then re adjust throttle stop if necessary. now move on to high speed jet.

How do i adjust the metering arm in the carb of a model 141 husqvarna chain saw

All adjustments made to the fuel are screw adjusted, three screws are low ideal, high ideal, throttle stop. A flat he'd screw driver should do.

Is there a starting point for the three adjusting screws on the carb?saw is a mac 3516 35cc. i need a good starting point to get the saw running.

Hi kwismer1...
The saw was running good when new, the adjustment screws cannot get turned in or out because of the spring so that will be your starting point.
If you have not already tried to adjust the screws...you can do it an easy way to make sure you get it right.
Screw the adjustment screws all the way to lightly bottom out the adjustment screws...
Then you count and mark down on a piece of paper how many turns it took you to bottom each of the screws....then remove them and clean your carburetor,repair,etc...when you go to put them back in, you bottom them first, and then turn the screw to the number of turns from the bottom that you wrote down.

The chain is spinning without accelerating

You need to reduce the minimum on your carburetor. Usually a chain saw has three screws to adjust. One is when you press the accelerator on the high revs. Then adjust the vividness of the saw. Another screw on the carburetor when the throttle is released and that the chainsaw works well at low revs. The third screw is the minimum and you can stop the chain here.
Good luck and be careful!

42cc 18 inch craftsman chainsaw model 358-351910-18. Saw runs great at idle or while not cutting wood, when starting to cut wood just after the entire bar gets into the wood engine bogs down and chain...

Generally this is a fuel / air ratio problem. Usually it can be solved by a carb adjustment. On the carb there are usually two screws, one marked low or L , the other marked high or H. Low is your adjustment for idle mixture, high is for mixture at full throttle. The saw should Always be adjusted to run well during the cut. Make adjustments a little at a time, then try The saw. Continue small adjustments untill the saw is performing well at full throttle while Cutting.

Saw idle's to fast . Where is the adjustment screw to back off the high idle

There will be three screws on the side of the carb, one marked L one marked H and one marked I or T, the last two are the idle speed screw, it simply works against the throttle shaft, if you remove the aifilter cover you should be able to see what happens when you turn this screw.

XL 2 auto carb adjustment, idles far too fast

Hi,

On the left side of the saw, opposite bar and chain, are 3 adjustment screws. The top two are the H, high, and L, low mixture screws. Under those is a screw marked T. This is the idle speed adjuster. Turn counterclockwise to bring down the idle speed. Adjust only when saw is warm and just until the chain stops turning.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate your vote. Thanks,

Handie Andie

My saw idles way too fast - how do I adjust?

Threr will be three adjuster screws on the carb ( will be holes in the cover so as to acess without removing any covers ) they will be marked L H and I( for idle ) or T( for tickover ). The T or I screw will adjust the idle speed, unscrew anti clockwise to reduce the speed.

WILL YOU PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO ADJUST THE CARB AIR-GAS THE THREE YOU TURN WITH A SCREWDRIVER

Set both the high and low speed screws from lightly seated to 1 1/4 turns out. This will give you a rough setting that will allow the saw to start and idle. Set the idle screw to where the chain just stops moving at idle.
With the saw warmed up adjust the low speed screw out until the saw smokes a bit and acceleration is sluggish. Bring the screw in small steps until the hesitation is gone from the acceleration...you may need to adjust the idle again after this.
Now hold the throttle wide open and while it is wide open adjust the high speed screw in until the noise becomes smooth and the saw "sings". Do not leave it at this setting as it will burn down in short order. Once the saw is singing back the screw out until you can hear the saw's tone "roughen"....then back the screw out a tad more for good power / fuel under load.
That's it in a nutshell...here's a good link also...

POULAN CHAIN SAW MODEL 1420 ''Chain came off track

Chain is probably stretched. SAFETY FIRST. Electric saw, make sure power is unplugged. Gas saw, make sure sparkplug wire is removed. Remove the cover where the bar is attached to the saw. U should see an adjustment screw for chain tension and one or more bar lockdown screws. Loosen the lockdown screws and turn the tension adjustment screw to permit the bar to slide back toward the motor. Put the chain back in the bar track all the way around. Adjust the tension screw to tighten chain enough you can't pull it out of the track at any spot. Slide the chain by hand at least one complete revolution feeling for any rough spots. If it moves freely, turn the tension screw enough to tighten the chain properly. Correct tension should allow you to pull the chain appx. 1/16 to 1/8 inch from the bar. Tighten the lockdown screws, replace the cover. Rotate chain by hand a couple of revolutions again to check for smoothness again before starting the saw.
