If your battery is discharging, that means you have a short somewhere, within your electrical system.. Or you left your headlights or something on, that should normally be off, when you turn the car off...I hope this helps you...

There may be a surface discharge. this occurs when the vehicle still draws current from the battery even when the car is off.the problem could have been going on for a while now and the battery just cannot sustain in a charge any more.
most times this occur in the morning when you start. a simple test is to disconnect the battery at night an see of it starts in the morning the battery held its charge and the car is the problem..
Other Reasons:-
the lights was left on
a door was left open
battery not holding charge
no battery water
the alternater not working well to charge the battery

My Volkswagen Jetta won't start after disconnecting and re connecting the battery

The first link says you can disconnect the battery cables and touch the Pos and Neg leads together to discharge any stored charge in the system. I don't think that is good, it works on some cars and other cars it can short out electrical components. I think it is better to disconnect the battery and turn the key on and let it sit for more than 1 hour to reset the immobilizer. Just my thought.

I have a 2006 jetta 2.5 automatic. the airbag warning light comes on although there seems to be no problem. A lamp light stays on even though i have no headlight or turn/backup/break light/trunsignal...

My jetta 2.5 2006 had a defective wire harness in the driver's door with cracked insulation causing intermittent short-circuits bringing battery discharge and no start-up in the morning.
I suspect all the cars that had their wiring made with the same roll of wire will experiment similar problems.

How to find a shortage on a vw jetta 2002

If you live where it is cold, your battery may need to be replaced . They will discharge with the cold during the night. Try changing the battery or checking your curent one. Install a known good battery that you know is fully charged, start the car and then turn it off leaving it for the night. If it does not start in the morning then you know it is not the battery. More than likely the alternator or regulator.

Electronic immobilizer

most likely cause is the gauge cluster, this will have to be tested and service by your local dealership because the dash cluster and keys have to be coded. I have seen the immobilizer loose it's coding for apearantly no reason. therefore have them recode cluster and see if problem goes away, if it doesn't the gauge cluster will have to be replaced.

Turning off the check engine light...2001 VW Jetta TDI

You have a few options:

1.) Don't do anything. Once the computer sees the engine run normally for a few cycles, it will automatically clear the code.

2.) Connect a scan tool to the OBDI port to clear the codes manually. Local auto parts stores will often perform scan tool diagnostics free of charge.

3.) If you want to remove the code quickly without any special tools, just disconnect the battery and leave it disconnected for a while. (How long varies for different cars, as some engine PCM's have capacitors that hold a charge for a short while after losing battery power.)
