Did you replace the fuel filter? If not, you might want to. If you did replace it, make sure it is pointed in the right direction. Usually it will have an arrow pointing in the direction of the fuel flow.
Also was the fuel pump you installed an in tank pump or did you install an in line pump. If you installed an in line pump, it is important to locate it as close to the tank as possible, and make sure it is lower than the tank.
Best Answer - Chosen by VotersFollow the fuel line from the fuel tank towards the engine till you see a soda can sized canister , it should have a metal strap around it holding it to the frame. The lines are under pressure so run the truck then pull the fuel pump fuse while its still running. Use line wrenches so you don't round down the fittings on the fuel lines. Some gas will drip out so do this in a well ventilated area. Its not hard to change but it might be hard to get off, spray some penetrating oil( PB Blaster) on it to dissolve any rust around the fittings. Install the new fuel filter ( arrow pionting towards the engine), replace the fuel pump fuse and start it up and check for leaks.
check the fuel filter some where on fuel filter there should be a arrow or a in or out labled on it if has arrow arrow should point to front of car if has in or out IN should be tank side of filter if that checks out ok check for a fuel leak possible places for fuel leak would be fuel filter connections connections to tank or if lines are rusty they could be leaking my best guess is you got a fuel leak somewhere
The arrow is the flow of fuel and it should be pointing to the engine. That is where it going. It will work backwards for a while till it clogs up, there is no room for debris in there but one way. Check it out.
It could be that the fuel filter was put on backwards or it could be the wrong filter. Some fuel filters will only allow the Fuel to flow a certain direction properly. There should be an arrow pointing the direction of flow on the filter or in and out are stamped on the end of the filters. If you can I would crawl underneath your car and locate the fuel filter. Look for the fuel line that comes from the fuel tank and follow it to the Fuel filter. Look for the arrow or the in and out. The back of the arrow should be where the line comes into it from the fuel tank and the head of the arrow should be connected to the line going towards the front of the car. If in and out are stamped on the filter, the line connected to the IN side of the filter should be the line coming from the fuel tank and the Out side should be the Line going towards the engine.. Hope this helps a bit
Hi! The arrow on your fuel filter points toward the front of the vehicle. The arrow was put on filter to show the flow of fuel toward the engine. Hope this information helps you!
Underneath the truck, just in front the gas tank, there is a hose coming from the tank. Mounted to the frame with a "strap" type bracket, is your fuel filter. When replacing this you must be certain to orient the new filter with the arrow pointing toward the front of the truck or away from the tank.
MAKE SURE KEY IS OFF USE A BUCKET AND TAKE OFF LINES TO THE FILTER YOU WILL LEAK SOME THEN REVERCE THE SAME WAY BACK BUT MAKE SURE THE ARROW IS POINTED TOWARD THE ENGINE ON THE FILTER
