We have reviewed and discussed your very short and very complicated question.
A bit more information would have helped but then again maybe this is all you had.

CLARIFICATION:
Is it a rattle or could this be a cracked manifold?

THE CLUE: "when car starts or is cold"
A cracked manifold has a very strange sound and may just sound like a tick or even a metal rattling noise BUT as soon as it warms it expands metal expands and closes the crack and the noise is gone.

RECOMENDATION:

Have your local mechanic inspect your exhaust manifold for a hair line crack and when its found you may see only a rusty spot where the crack is. It will most certainly get worse before it gets better if it is cracked.

Hope this recommendation guides you in a direction to solve your problem

Check the Catalytic converter shield for a loose fit, ( it is on top of the cat. to shield the car from heat), or a broken weld at one end or the other. It is more like a rattle-buzz, if that is the problem.

You will want to go to an exhaust shop to have them look for broken welds or brackets as well as the catalytic converter. if it has come apart inside it will create this issue. common.

Trying to find two noises in my 3ltr petrol 407 coupe, cold start rattle and rattle under acceleration especially from a slightly higher gear before kick down occurs. note diagnostics show anything.

Check the exhaust system from front to rear for torn or warn hangers, welds broken on any shields. That is if the noise is a metal noise or rattle. Please describe your noise if this doesn't match.

Rattling noise when idling

Under the car like the exhaust? Catalytic converters do that inside their metal shell or housing. Beat on it with your fist when it is cold to hear it. (Not running).

Loud rattle noise started on cold start up but goes away. Now makes noise on/off throttle all the time.Sounds like cat internals or heat shield, inlaws have same car, same noise

Sounds like the Cat could be bad. Get under the vehicle and hit the cat with your hand. If it rattles then you know what your problem is, if it doesnt rattle then start check the belts and tensioners

Rattle noice engine around the calelitic converter. rattle noice when starting car up when cold. poor gas mileage.

Sounds like you may have a exhaust loose or either the cat converter is stopping up. Some of these have baffles inside which will break loose and cause a rattling noise. When the engine is cold, start the vehicle and crawl under and hold the converter with your hand and even the exhaust to see if any pressure will stop the or alter the noise. Careful it don't take long for the exhaust to heat up. If these baffles are broke inside, it can cause the converter to become stopped up and rattle, this will also give an engine false info when it comes to the fuel and air ratio mixture. Not going to far into it, so i don't confuse you. Good Luck

Check all braces under your car. Not just visually, put hands on each and every brace. Sounds like one might be loose or broken. Hope it's as easy a fix as mine was.

I hear a rattle under my car when i go over bumps, what could it be?

Check the exhaust system. When the car is cold, jack it up, place on safety stands, block wheels, crawl under and grab on to the exhaust, starting at the back of the car, give it a good shake (this is why you block the wheels, put it on safety stands, u don't want it falling on you). Work your way up to the engine. Many times it is a heat shield that has rusted and is loose that is making the rattling noise. There is no harm to the car, just annoying. You can usually use wire or a couple of screws to secure the rattling part .

Noise under hood like rattling sound

Try checking the heat shields on the exhaust pipe up front under the car. Alot of times they will loosen up, and begin to rattle. You can ither remove them, or try to clamp them.
Hope this helps!
