Could be a clutch or drive tube problem, on the bottom of your basket drive tube is a thrust washer,it eventually wears off the boyyom of the tube and your clip that holds on your brake release arm falls off breaking your clutch arm and thus no spin will happen ,, sounds like yours is grinding off the bottom of the basket drive tube,, mine was always screaching on the rinse spin and finally gave out when it wore the bottom off my tube, went and bought a used tube installed it with a new clutch and works fine now no more screaching!

How can I switch from one cycle to another

Without a make and model specified, the options are endless.
On many digital control panels, such as on our LG Turbodrum top loader, you would press:
Power on
Select temp
Select load size
press Program until Rinse
Press start

My washer started to make horrible sound when it tried to agitate. After draining water n removing clothes i tried just starting from rinse cycle. It filled up. It agitated w horrible sound but will not...

mine did this to me, need a new agitator. dependin on the age of yur washer, might need a new washer. it is a decision up to you. I bought a new set in the end, cost of part & time to install. Besides the age of the washer was a consideration i considered.

My dishwasher is making these horrible screeching sounds during the wash cycle !! It's a stainless steel fridgdaire dishwasher about 5 yrs old

Open up the door, try spinning the cross fan to see if you can replicate the sounds if it does, check the fastener to see if it's either too loose or too tight, either of which can create such sounds.

Washing machine will not spin

If this is a Whirlpool washer, you have a broken motor coupler

Motor makes loud rattling noise during rinse cycle

could be the coupler and the only way to truely check it is to take the pump, then the motor off. But it seems strange to me that you say it works fine. Is it spinning? usually when the coupler breaks it sounds horrible and usually will not spin but it will drain.I would check the coupler again.

Bad noise at begining of rinse cycle.

It sounds like your gear case (transmission) has gone bad. If the washer fills and agitates that tells me that the problem cannot be with the motor coupling and drive motor. It also rules out a pump problem if the washer completes a wash cycle and drains properly. The only thing left is the gears inside the transmission. Sometimes they go bad in a way that portions of the wash will work while others don't. The part number is 3360629 and the price usually runs about $150. I hope this may help you in some way.
