Question about 2002 kawasaki VN 1500 Vulcan Meanstreak

1 Answer

Have start up problems when it's cold and/or damp in the mornings. Slow to start or doesn't start at all until outside temp warms up and then it fire's up instantly.I've already checked and spun the plug caps to insure good contact. This began about 4 months ago, slowly at first and then more frequently. The exhaust will usually smell rich and backfire sometimes in those instances that it doesn't start. Leaning towards sensor issue(s).

Sounds like your batery does not have enough cranking amps. good 12 volts but no amps to start when cold. Replace battery but don't buy a cheap one becuase they don't have the cranking amps of a good battery. I recomend aYUASA battery.

P2285 code 6.0 litre ford deisel long cranking before starting after starts runs great but oil pressure gauge drops at idle

bad bearings on crank or worn oil pump. Pressure will be up when cold, but will drop when engine warms up. Check for knock in lower end. If so, bad crank bearings.

1995 lincoln t c won't start in the morning when temp is below 55, but will start once the temp warms up into the upper 60's.

this could be a poor battery, that the cold temperatures affect its ability to function at colder temperatures.you don`t say if it doesn`t start (fire up) or it doesn`t start(turn over)either way have the battery load tested or if its over say 7 years replace.

On cold mornings Under 32 degrees the car does not turn over. When the outside temp warms up 40 degrees+ it will start. 2003 mini cooper

the battery may be the problem there is a rating on batteries called CCA this is Cold Cranking Amps. This is how much cranking amps the battery has in cold conditions. When it is warmer the cranking amps increase to start the vehicle.

2004 Saturn Ion wont start from time to time when it is cold outside.. Like this morning my daughter went outside and the car started right up with the temp outside 7 degrees. She warmed it up for awhile...

LOL repeating questions. Its your ignition switch. its a common problem with ions ( I myself have a 04 ion and had it replaced twice in 3 years) repair is around 400 dollars with labor. Just google "ion not starting in cold weather" and youll get TONS of threads. No recall either its stupid

the old chryslers were very suseptable to dampness esp at 35 deg after car warms up the damp wires would dry off and the problem would go away some time this also affected the ignition and car would not start on damp or rainy days as well

Starting in damp weather 1993 240 wagon, auto/od, 235k miles

perhaps you need a new cap and roter a new spark plug wire set. they don;t like moisture. also check to see if you have any broken or leaking vacuum hoses. the worse case senerio would be that your head gasket is leaking--at cold temps a little antifreeze will enter until everything warms up and it seals shut due to metal expanding. but since you say it's cold weather only--this probably wou;dn't be the case. good luck.
