Question about 2007 Yamaha YZF-R6

Engine light comes on and I have no throttle response what so ever but if I turn the bike off and start it up again its no problem it's doing my head in can anyone help

SOURCE: Engine cutting out when open throttle. YAMAHA NEOS 50cc MOPED

i had a simuler problem with my honda cr 250 moto-x bike it would start fine and you could keep it ticking over with the throttle(i have deliberatly unscrewed the tickover in case i come off,it will cut out) when i got on it,it would go for about 400-500 metres then splutter and die and not start again for around 5 mins. i immediatly knew it was a fueling problem. so after stripping the carb and giving it a good clean out i was baffled when i got back on and it still done the same. i then dismantled the fuel tap cleaned it all out and put it back together and tested it,it was very very slow so i unsrewed my fuel cap a little and was greated with the familur gush it should deliver. problem solved! the vent in my fuel cap had crystalised up,so the fuel was coming out but the air was not getting in,causing a vacuum and slowing down the flow and basically emptying the carb quicker than it can fill back up!!! clean your carb,fuel tap and any vents in your cap or tank. if this does not work then your bike must be over fueling or low on compression.

Check for any splits on the rubber intake sleeve.this is what connects the carb to the bike.If this does not rectify the fault then strip down and clean the carb jets especially the idle jet as it may be slightly blocked causeing such symptoms.good luck

You need to post year of bike to get an answer to this. Check the speedo for P codes. Is engine management light coming on (assumes fuel injection)? Will bike start again without turning it off?

I can't get my 2007 Harley XL1200C to start in the cold

Since you didn't say anything about the engine not cranking over, I'm going to assume that the engine is turning over fine and everything else is as well. Some people do experience trouble getting their bike started on cold mornings because they are not familiar with how the enricher circuit works.

The enricher circuit works differently from the old fashioned "choke" found on older bikes. To get the enricher to work as it should, the throttle must be completely closed. A lot of people get ready to start their bikes and open the throttle just a bit. Do not do this with an enricher like your bike is equipped with. If you do, the air the engine draws in does not pass through the enricher passage but rather through the carb throat itself and then the mixture is too lean to get the bike to start.

The way I tell everyone to start the bike is first turn on the fuel at the petcock. If you're bike has the original petcock, it is vacuum operated and you don't have to turn it on, it'll turn itself on. Then, prime the carb by twisting the throttle grip two or three times. Then, turn the switch on and with the throttle completely closed, push the "start" button. The engine should fire right up. If not, twist the throttle one more time and try again. If it doesn't start up then, you may have a problem.

If you get the engine flooded and you smell gasoline strongly. Turn the throttle wide open, then push and hold the start button. Do not hold the button for over 15 seconds at a time under any circumstances or you may burn up the starter.

If this doesn't work, please repost and give me more information about what the bike is or is not doing.

The engine oil lamp won't go off after ignition key is turned on, and the thing won't start. (i'm guessing the first error indicator is the reason for the second) but.. What is the issue?

Oil light stays on until oil pressure rises enough. Engine temp light should come on when key is turned on and then go off after 3-5 seconds. Wait till temp light goes off and then press starter button but DO NOT open throttle. Bike should start if there are no other problems and oil light should go off after engine starts. If you open throttle, engine may not start.

Yamaha R6 throttle rotates but does not create response

okay, you have a common issue of an angry bike. generally when storing a bike for even 30 days without use, you have to drain all the fluids then refill when about to be used.

The reason why you have white smoke is that your oil's viscosity has expired and the oil now is much like water, easy to burn and no engine protection. DO NOT try to turn the bike on, this will damage your pistons, block and the piston rings. have the oil drained, filled and warm the bike up on idle for 30 min, drain again then filled up again.

the throttle issue is your EFI not wanting you to inflict more damage to the engine. have this worked on by a professional as they have to have this system calibrated again.

Engine shuts off when rolling the throttle

They could be related - but what you need to do is first clean out the oil that has collected in the air filter housing - and replace the air filter. Then, clean the oil from the engine - Simple Green and an old tooth brush works great for this. Wash the engine and surrounding areas with soap and water.
Now, with things cleaned off, you'll be able to tell where the oil is coming from after a short test ride. It could be that the oil you saw near the head gasket was actually running from the air box. Hopefully, a new air filter will cure the problems you had with low power and poor throttle response.

Bike won't start and head light won't come on

Battery probably! did it push start? because if it did,,,, you should continue to ride it for awhile to recharge the battery.... that is if the voltage regulator is working o.k. check battery voltage, if its only 12v the regulator is probably going out.

fuel problem the flots are a bit sticky and the bike is flooding under power this is a common problem

it sound like your battery is dead you can jump start it but be very carfull to conect it properly if this works you may need a battery

Slow throttle response and power loss after a stuck throttle

something deeper... timing is not it... plugs maybe... BUT, you need to pull the plugs and see what they look like,,hopefully they will look normal...if they have strange looking deposits on them... time for a qualified professional to look at them..(leave them as they not clean them)... and your bike...
.. the throttle cable may have been pinched by the steering head stops that are welded to the frame...(this is not an uncommon occurrence :) ).. the throttle cable will have a spot that is kinda "kinked" or have a knot looking spot in it...replace it...
