Question about Honda VT 750 DC Shadow Spirit Motorcycles

1 Answer

I've removed the battery cover and cables from the battery posts, but I cannot get the battery out of the battery box. Is there some kind of "trick" to getting it out? Are there additional bolts that are holding it in that the manual doesn't specify?

No screw clips. At least not on my 05/2004 Shadow Spirit VT750. There is a rubber foam pad attached inside to the back wall of the battery box. That spongy foam is what \'s keeping the battery tight and snug at all times. Chances are after a few years of sitting there together they side wall of the battery and the foam pad is quite thoroughly stuck together creating such bond that you would swear that there has to be some screw or something holding it hidden somewhere. There is an approx. 1"x2" oval opening at the smack middle of the bottom of the battery box. I used a deep socket on a breaker bar and stuck the handle of another tool under it to create a lever. right underneat the hole there is a small flat surface of the chassis to place all this. It\'s quite hard but doable. It tok me quite a force to break the years worth of bond between the battery and the foam pad. In retrospect if you manage to stick some very thin but rounded edge metal tool like a spackling knife or burger flipper between the foam pad and the battery wall that should break the bond between the too and make the battery slide out somwhat easier. I only used brute force though and it worked.

There are screw clips on the bottom of the case that grip the side flange of the battery. Usually one at each end.

How do you change batteries on hoveround mpv5 ?

Disconnect cables going from battery boxes to the control box. There is probably a catch that needs to be squeezed in, then pull and wigglt the connection block until it disengages. Release the straps over the battery boxes then remove batteries and covers. Lift up on the cover (you may need to push some cable back into the box) and put cover aside. Disconnect cables from batteries and attach to the new batteries. Same procedure, in reverse, gets you back to an operational MPV5.

Charge a battery on a 2006 HD Wide Glide

You need to get a proper tool and take the box off, like a phillips screwdriver.

Otherwise, the battery positive cable goes directly to the post on the starter so it you can access it and put the positive charger cable clamp direclty on the starert cable post and the negative charger cable connector on the engine or some other good ground you should be charging your battery.

Where are soark plugs

Vehicles: 2000 Kia Sportage 4-cylinder 2.0L MFI DOHC 1998-2002

They're hidden underneath the coil cover, which is partially obscured by the accelerator cable bracket, which is obstructed by the air intake.

They're accessed from the top of the engine.

If you don't have a compressed air line to blow dirt away from around the plugs before removing them, one may blow through a plastic drinking straw (while closing eyes), or use a can of compressed air (with a little red plastic straw) sold for use cleaning computer PC boards/keyboards.

Where the manual (below) says "carefully install the spark plug into the cylinder head", you may consider one or another of a couple of experienced mechanic's tricks (used to avoid cross-threading the plug thus damaging the head):
trick 1: start plug by putting plug onto the end of a piece of stiff-ish hose, and
start the threads by gently turning the end of the hose. Once plug has
safely started turning into its threads, switch to a spark plug socket.
trick 2: use the spark plug socket, but carefully start the plug by gently
turning the plug COUNTER-clockwise, until the plug drops a hair - at this
point you know you've found the start of the first thread. Then gently thread
the plug in clockwise.
Spark Plugs - Removal & Installation

Do not attempt to remove spark plugs when the engine is hot.

(1) Disconnect the negative battery cable.
(2) Remove the air intake hose assembly.
(3) Remove the accelerator cable bracket.
(4) Remove the six bolts and coil cover from cylinder head cover.
(5) Remove the four bolts and the two coils from the cover.
(6) Disconnect the high tension leads from the spark plugs by twisting the boot and removing.
(7) Use compressed air to remove any dirt from around the spark plug hole.
(8) Make sure the spark plug socket fits squarely on the spark plug, and then remove.
To install:

(1) Be sure the spark plug gap is set to 0.039-0.043 in. (0.98-1.09mm).
(2) Apply anti-seize compound or light lubricating oil (WD-40 or 3-in-1) to the spark plug threads.
(3) Carefully install the spark plug into the cylinder head and torque to 11-17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm).
(4) Reconnect high tension leads to the spark plugs.
(5) Install the two ignition coils and torque four mounting bolts to 14-19 ft. lbs. (26 Nm).
(6) Install the coil cover and secure with six bolts
(7) Install the accelerator cable bracket.
(8) Reconnect the air intake hose assembly
(9) Reconnect the negative battery cable.

How do you remove the battery cover on a 2004 cadillac srx?

  • Hi, I can help.

  1. Turn off all electronics in the car.
  2. First you want to remove the negative and positive cables on the side of the battery.
  3. You will notice on the sides of the battery box ( towards the bottom lip of the lid ) there are bolts on both sides that secure it.
  4. Remove them bolts.
  5. Now there is this harness on top of the box that is kind of in the way. If memory serve it is kind of connected by a little plastic connector. Take a Flathead screwdriver and lift up underneath the plastic piece just until it pops loose from the cover.
  6. Now the lid comes up and you have to maneuver it around the harness. It's kind of a tight fit but not to bad.
  7. Install a new battery

My 1995 Cougar XR7 V8 4.6L will not start. When I turn the key, the ammeter pegs at 0, but nothing else happens. There is no click from anywhere under the hood. I have a brand new (6 weeks old)...

Check the fusible link between the battery and the fuse box under the hood. Just follow the positive battery cable towards the fuse box where it looks like there's a cable going in and a cable coming out. the cover slides up to access the fusible link. take off the two nuts with a 1/2 inch wrench, pull the cables off and remove the link. It should be marked as a 175 amp fuse. Run to the auto parts store to buy a replacement. reinstall. Good luck.

hi,i used to have one of these, from memory, when you get the battery out as far as you can you have to disconnect the terminal before it will come any further,mr yamaha didnt believe in making long cables, and if i remember i used to take the seat off and disconnect the other terminal before i even started trying to get it out,if you think getting it out isnt much fun, they are worse to get back in,and i am afraid that there is no easy way to do it as there is absolutley no room at all to work in.hope this helps ..cheers ian
