H20A suzuki spark plug gap

H20A suzuki engine - spark plug gap? Lack of power; engine diagnosis clean except for notification that engine is no longer connected to an automatic gearbox (it is a secondhand engine ex Japan). Lack of power was cured by changing plug gap - but what is the correct gap? Correct spark plugs as per bonnet sticker not available in Kenya.
Where can I get workshop manual & engine tuneup data? Chris

In general, a smaller gap, like .032 inches will give you more power, better starting, especially in cold weather or with a turbo charger.
A larger gap, like .045 inchers will giver you better mileage and better reading on pollution tests.

While the oxygen sensor will pick up on any change in spark plug gap, you can compensate with a variable resistor in series with the oxygen sensor. So you can tweak the power vs mileage any way you want.

Producing too much black smoke and lost power take off

Black smoke indicates incomplete combustion - the mixture is far too rich for efficient operation, or you have poor ignition. Check the engine service codes; they may indicate what has failed. Almost certainly your spark plugs are fouled. Clean them and check the gaps to make sure they are within specification, and replace the plugs if they are significantly eroded. Verify that the spark plug cables are good, and if your vehicle uses a mechanical distributor, check that and the rotor also.

That's a start on the diagnosis. (Usually if the engine is worn out, you'll have blue smoke from burning oil, not black smoke. Do a compression test before giving up on the engine.)

yes,
open hood look up (under hood), see the EPA sticker there?, sure
see GAP for spark plugs. bingo, all cars USA its there,.

yes, they need to be gaped. it shows that. (that EPA tag)
they dont make spark plugs with correct gap for every engine made., sorry, so you need to do that.
the FSM for you car (book) cover this, step by step.
ill assume the plugs match your car same EPA sticker shows that... whats needed.

What is the spark plug gap 3.2 ltr engine

2001 really., that year? wrong year, you did that.
in the usa, (this is a usa forum)
posted 100s of times.
open hood, look up under hood, see that EPA sticker,
showing just that?
the 3.2L was introduced in 2008/9
depends on what plugs, some are not gap settable.
usa spec, 2010.
read this FSM page.
hen servicing an iridium spark plug, do not touch the center electrode. The center electrode on this type of spark plug is slender and can be damaged if a mechanical force is applied. Do not clean or adjust the gap for the iridium spark plugs.
IF NOT THAT THEN,
old technology spark plugs, not above.
The 3.2L engine spark plug air gap specification is: 0.043-0.047 inch (1.1-1.2mm).

Why would suzuki forenza stall at a stop

Turn the ignition and start the Suzuki Eiger. If the engine has difficulty starting or will not start at all, there may be a problem in the electrical or starting system. Remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug and remove the spark plug from the engine using a spark plug wrench. You can replace the spark plug or use a wire brush and gap tool to clean and re-gap the spark plug. Insert and tighten the spark plug, reattach the spark plug wire and try to restart the engine. Remove the battery cables from the battery and attach a battery meter to the battery. Observe the amount of charge the battery is holding and if the meter has a test feature, test the battery to see if it will dispense the correct amount of power. Clean the battery contacts with a wire brush and reconnect the battery cables. Check the oil, gas, transmission and brake fluid levels on the Suzuki Eiger. If there is not enough gas in the ATV, it will not start. Checking the fluids regularly to see if there are any leaks or if any of the fluids are dangerously low. Top up any fluids that may be low before you use the ATV. Adjust the fuel idle mixture screw on the Suzuki Eiger's carburetor if the engine is running rough. Inspect the air intake and exhaust pipe for the Suzuki Eiger. Any blockage in or on these components can affect engine performance. OBD2 PROMOTION FindOBD2 com

HAVE LOW POWER OUTPUT ON MY 2Y FOUR CYLINDER ENGINE WITH A CARBURATOR

I don't know this engine in detail, but we can make a few general statements. In that type of engine, lack of power can be caused by

- a bad spark (check spark plugs for gap and fouling, measure coil resistances, check plug leads)
- lack of fuel (weak fuel pump, blocked filter, blocked jets in carby)
- engine timing off spec (use a timing light to check this)
- lack of compression (use a compression gauge to check this)

Of all these, I'd start with engine timing, then look at a blocked jet in the carby.

My 1998 buick century custom when warm luggs like it has a miss. The electical on dash board are not on, still has power but luggs... please help !

first thing I would do is check all tune up components, distributor cap (worn out or cracked), rotor (worn out) , spark plugs if new check spark plug gap, spark plug wires, check engine timing. if that doesn't solve the problem check engine compression possible blown head gasket or leaking piston rings, check fuel pressure, change out fuel filter. also if your catalytic converter going bad can cause a lack of power.

How to replace sparl plugs on a Jeep Cherokee?

Hello, I hope this info helps...(subytech1)...REMOVAL
In this engine, each individual spark plug is located under each ignition coil.

  1. Prior to removing spark plug, spray compressed air around base ofignition coil at cylinder head. This will help prevent foreign materialfrom entering combustion chamber.
  2. On this engine each individual ignition coil must be removedto gain access to each spark plug. Refer to Ignition CoilRemoval/Installation.
  3. Check condition of coil O-ring and replace as necessary.
  1. Inspect spark plug condition. Refer to Spark Plug Conditions.
CLEANING
Theplugs may be cleaned using commercially available spark plug cleaningequipment. After cleaning, file center electrode flat with a smallpoint file or jewelers file before adjusting gap.

CAUTION: Never use a motorized wire wheel brush to clean sparkplugs. Metallic deposits will remain on spark plug insulator and willcause plug misfire.

ADJUSTMENT

Setting Spark Plug Gap - Typical
Check spark plug gap with a gap gauge tool. If the gap is not correct, adjust it by bending ground electrode. Never attempt to adjust gap bybending center electrode.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: This engine is equipped with copper core groundelectrode spark plugs. They must be replaced with the same type/numberspark plug as the original. If another spark plug is substituted,pre-ignition will result.

Special care should be taken when installing spark plugs into cylinderhead spark plug wells. Be sure plugs do not drop into plug wells asground straps may be bent resulting in a change in plug gap, orelectrodes can be damaged.

Always tighten spark plugs to specified torque. Over tightening cancause distortion resulting in a change in spark plug gap or a crackedporcelain insulator.

  1. Start spark plug into cylinder head by hand to avoid cross threading.
  2. Tighten spark plugs to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) torque.
  3. Before installing coil(s), check condition of coil O-ring andreplace as necessary. To aid in coil installation, apply silicone tocoil O-ring.
  4. Install ignition coil(s). Refer to Ignition Coil Removal/Installation.

Lack of power

These engines are pretty sensitive to the spark plug gap. Try replacing the plugs and making sure the gap is correct (even if they're pre-gapped. They're typically 0.055", but there should be a sticker under the hood that states the actual gap.

I'm trying to locate the spark plugs in my suzuki 2008 sx4.

You remove the rectangular plastic cover on top of the engine(2 screws), under that is the plug wires and spark plugs. Pull wires straight up, remove plugs with proper spark plug socket, extension and ratchet, reverse to install.

Platinum plugs are not required but will allow longer change intervals. Check the gap but do not gap them, if they are not properly gapped. Bring them back and asked for new ones.

The metal's on the Platium plugs are harder then copper plugs and can break upon trying or break in your cylinder when in uses.

Good luck and hope this helps
