Wont start, or you can't move the kick starter?
If it kicks easily, do a compression test.

Hi, Andrew and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely drained or faulty battery.
2. Faulty regulator/rectifier or high output coil.
3. Faulty power valve, solenoid or installation.
4. Clogged air filter or exhaust.
5. Cracked or incorrect float level.
6. Float needle is not seating.
7. Faulty reed valve.

My son wanted to ride in the 12 degree weather-2003 Suzuki 2003 drz 125. He went to twist the throttle and heard cracking sounds and now the throttle does not return to the original position. Could he...

Yes it is possible to make it work,he has to dis assemble carb slide anyway,so while it is apart he can try it,should work though, doesnt hurt to give it a try.

it may just be dirty carb jets or no fule from the tank getting to the carb if it runs better with the choke on its likly to be jets blocked up

Not idleing not running smooth when excelerating and no powerband.

First, do a compression test (Throttle wide open during this)
Make sure the air filter is CLEAN!!!
You may have an issue with...
power valve sticking
crank seal leaking
worn out rings
dirty carburator

I have a rm 125 and it keeps fouling out the

It is likely your jetting. If your plug is wet it's either way too rich or you are not running the engine hard enough to keep it cleaned out. The smaller 2-strokes don't like to be ridden calmly unless the jetting is spot on and even then they can load up. They were designed to be ridden hard.

This is a fairly easy thing to repair, but it's a bit complicated to learn.

I would suggest popping over to allthingsmoto (dot) com and poking around a little - tons of threads on the site about jetting and how to do it. You'll see me over there.

1993 suzuki rm 125 has no spark?

best spark plug is iridium plug, takes the heat and lasts alot more rides. could be flooded, take plug out , stick finger over hole , kick start till it drys out. take match stick and clean inside of plug, should be good. otherwise probably a fuel problem.

I want my powerband to come in at a lower rpm. it comes in at 3/4 qt throttle! 96 rm 125

You can experiment with different expansion chambers. The cone shape of the chamber bounces a sonic shock wave back to the exhaust port. The wave forms a pressure "wall" at the port to "seal" the exhaust port so intake gasses don't escape. Change the wall timing and you change the powerband. This is the expensive way and with no guarantees. The bike may already have the best possible chamber.

I suggest you go a different route. Just go up about four teeth on the rear sprocket or down one tooth on the front sprocket. This will mean the bike will have a lower top speed but more torque and earlier powerband relative to mph speed. Bottom line is you will come out of the hole quicker with higher revs and reach the powerband sooner. The loss of top speed is overcome by the speed out of the corners. Generally, more time is spent in first, second and third than the brief moments spent in fifth or sixth.

Please consider a top rating for this solution. Thanks!

Wont kick over

Sounds like a bad crank bearing. Pull the spark plug and kick it over by hand real slow if it hangs up you have a bad bearing. It could be the more but I would check hear first and you will find the rest if any.
