check to see if the ground wires are good... get a long four foot wire (like 18 gauge) hook one end up to the negative terminal and then slit the ground wire on the plug to the dim bulb and connect it... see if that solves the problem.check to see if the ground wires are good... get a long four foot wire (like 18 gauge) hook one end up to the negative terminal and then slit the ground wire on the plug to the dim bulb and connect it... see if that solves the problem.

not sure what kinda car you have but if it has a bulb you can unplug from the back and twist the blck ring to remove bulb. read instructions on new one and do not toch the glass on the new bulb
open up the hood, im pretty sure the layout would be somewhat similar to my jetta and my gti, once the hood is open ight on the radiator support there should be a plastic cover on the back covering the back of the headlight, noticable with a picture of a light on it, remove that, take out the old bulb, take it to a wal mart, napa, autozone, any parts store, get the similar light, replace it, check to see if the light is working, then put the covers back on
Well, if you truly believe they are dim, voltage drop test on the power side of the headlight circuit, and then on the ground side. Separately. If there is excessive voltage drop in the wiring, that would cause dim headlights.
If the headlights and dash are dim when u turn multiple electrical items on, then it is a bad Electrical Load Detector(ELD)
You won't need a diagram as the damage was done where you tried patching in to the headlight circuit. You already know wher that was, just figure out where you shorted 2 of the wires with the wire clamp on device that wasn't lined up right. the insulation between two of the wires has been cut and you have a partial short. Once you identify and repair the insulation NEATLY with electrical tape, you'll be fine.
If you really think you need diagram, buy a haynes manual for about $20 at your local parts store or haynes.com.
Does it go completely black or just dim? Most displays dim when you turn the lights on to make the display darker so its not too bright. GPS and other displays do this. Do you have any problems with any other of the car's electronics?
