Question about 2002 Suzuki GZ 250 Marauder

1 Answer

My suzuki 2001 gz250 wont start

I got a new battery plus new spark plug and it still wont keep running. I've already checked the fuses, both are good. I really dont know much about motorcylce mechanices but it will fire up after adding starter fluid to the spark plug for a second and then dies. I dont know what to do now. As I said, it has a new battery, spark plug, and fresh gas. However it has been sitting up for about a year without being started while I was traveling with work. Any help would be extremely appreciated...

I already did that. Fuel is running freely from the line. This is my first bike and as I said I know next to nothing about them but my grandpa is tryin to hela little. He is not familiar with motorcycles either however. Thank you for your advice. I truly am trying to learn but being a girl its hard to get legitimate answers. Any further help you could offer would be greatly appreciated...

Fuel from the tank is not being delivered to the engine. Trace the hose from the fuel tap down to the carburetor (fuel injector) and remove the hose. Fuel should run freely in a thin stream from the hose while the fuel tap is 'on'. If nothing or almost nothing, check the filter screen in the fuel tap for plugging--soak in spray-can-carburetor cleaner for a while, then retry fuel from the hose.

I'm not familiar with this particular bike--does it have a carburetor that the fuel hose hooks to? Is there a 'kick' starter pedal? If it has a carburetor, then the next thing to check is to remove the float bowl underneath the carb body and see if fuel streams out of the interior (the bowl should have some amount of fuel lying in it when removed). If it doesn't stream fuel, remove the float pivot pin, float, and needle valve which should drop out when the float is removed. Try the fuel stream again. If ok, then clean the needle carefully, replace it in the seat that it fell out of, then the float, and it's pivot pin. Try the fuel again, it should flow, but not as fast as it did before. Lift up on the float gently, and it should shut off the fuel. Drop it again and fuel should resume. If you got this far, place the bowl back in place, and try starting. Good luck!

Hi, Ricky and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting/leaking, spark plug cable connections loose check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil or electronic control module.
7. Faulty pulse coil.
8. Faulty CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
9. Faulty ignition switch.
10. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
11. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

2003 suzuki wont start ran good whenparked 2 mo ago checked plugs checked fuel

Make sure the battery is fully charged. Consider getting a jump from another vehicle and if that doesn't work buy a can of ether starting fluid from the local walmart or auto store. Make sure not to keep turning the motor over if the vehicle doesn't start - you will flood the motor with gas and can damage the pistons - excessive gas will wash off the oil and the starter will get very hot. If you have done that already consider removing the spark plugs and adding a few drop of engine oil to each cylinder and smell for gas - let it air out. When older cars sit unused problems can bubble up.

My suzuki wont start

with a new battery and a new plug, check if the engine is getting adequate amount of fuel. if the answer is yes,and you are satisfied that a strong spark is present, then timing is the only thing left. check your timing if all the above are satisfactory.

Suzuki wagon r+gl check engine light keeps flashing and wont start after battery change

the engine (there are more than one engine)
has a distributor.
"have spark at coil down to dizzy but no spark at plugs"
this can mean only 2 things.
1: spark wires are dead. all 4, kinda hard to believe huh?
2: the dizzy is way off time. so time the dizzy and now spark
lands on each wire term.
if not a dizzy engine, post exact version of engine and country.

Bike wont start

I would check for compression on the cylinders. a engine has to have fuel, fire and compression or it wont run. Check the specs to get the operable compression levels.
