Question about 2001 Buell Blast
My bike will run and ride great untill the motor gets so hot or runs so long and then the spark plug wire wont fire. turn the key off and one and it fires the first lick but only once. i changed the plug coil. didnt fix the problem. mabe the starter module? thermostat stuck? maby and electrical asfety switch? anyone have any thoughts?
Take the round cover off the right side of the cam cover above the oil filter and try starting the bike - it has a small red led that flashes every time it sparks. if it doesn't flash - change it. it is bad.

SOURCE: Blast High Beam Flasher Switch
including when the bike is running and in gear. Laps switched high or low. If I pull the switch out a bit I can see a spring behind it but that's it. Is there a trick to this switch I'm not finding? If it's broke is there any repair tips? you can replace the whole assembly find a guy who is electrically inclined to r&r the switch, or like most live without it and just flash folks manually by turning the hi beams on and off.,,,

There's a chance that the problem lies with the starter. This is the main motor that drives the engine up to a start. Starting Problems can be attributed to:
1. Poor contact with the starter armateur and carbon brush
2. Fuse (usually 20 amps) connected to the positive terminal going to the starter motor. Check if this ain't broke.
3. Starter switch not making proper contact. Spray a little WD-40 on the starter switch, it may be rusted.
....... let me know if any of these fail. I'd be glad to provide more ideas.

Either fuel filter is clogged or air filter is clogged or carb/fuel injectors need to be thuroughly cleaned

. The relay is attached to relay connector located to the right of
the battery underneath the seat.
Pull relay from relay block.
. Connect positive battery lead to the 86 terminal.
. Connect negative battery lead to the 85 terminal to
. Check for continuity between the 30 and 87 terminals.
A good relay shows continuity (continuity tester
lamp “on” or a zero ohm reading on the ohmmeter).

SOURCE: Fuel pump noise 2005 Buell xb9sx
That is the fuel pump doing its job of pumping. If it stops making noise, it stopped pumping, and no gas is getting into your motor. Your bike will not run without a running fuel pump. :)
