When this happened with my bike, I took a large gem clip, straightened it out, and then put a 90 degree bend about 1/4" from one end. I could insert the end with the bend under the seat and use it to grab the release mechanism and pull it so the rear seat released. Then I was able to connect the cable from the latch/lock correctly to avoid the same prob when the seat was reattached.

How do I go about fixing a reving issue on my bike? It doesnt like to rev past about 10,000 rpms. I was thinking maybe the carbs need to be rejetted. The bike will rev to redline in neutral.

Hi, Ani and the usual suspects are:
    1. Severely drained or faulty battery.
    2. Faulty regulator/rectifier or high output coil.
    3. Faulty power valve, solenoid or installation.
    4. Clogged air filter or exhaust.
    5. Cracked or incorrect float level.
    6. Float needle is not seating.
    7. Faulty reed valve.

06 GSXR 750 I TOOK FRONT SPROCKET COVER OFF. BUT BEFORE I DID THAT I TOOK THE BOLT LOOSE HOLDING TO THE GEAR SHIFTER IN FRONT OF THE SPROCKET COVER. HOW COME MY BIKE WON'T SHIFT INTO ANY GEARS NOW?

If you have repositioned the shifter arm correctly and it is not contacting something it is possible that you do not have the cover on correctly. There are, I believe, 2 dowel pins in back of the cover where it contacts t the crankcase if these dowel pins were not seated properly when you tightened the cover bolts it would cause the cover to misalign where the shaft goes through it and bind the shaft from rotating. Re check the cover installation.

My 2001 suzuki gsxr 750 won't downshift all of a

Your shifter cam bolt has backed out, this is a common problem on earlier GSXR's. Happened twice on my 2000, both times during race weekends.

Stop riding the bike and shifting at all and do the following repair:

Remove clutch cover - you'll drain some oil so make sure you have a drip pan underneath

Remove the 5 the clutch housing plate bolts - careful as they have pretty stiff springs behind them providing torsion

Remove all the clutch plates - make sure you keep the same order and re-install the same way; matter of fact if you have never replaced your clutch plates, do it along with this repair.

Once the clutch case is basically empty, you will see at the lower left a small assembly that looks a bit like a tuning fork, at the end of the shifter shaft. There is also a cam there with rounded cogs. There is a 8mm or 10 mm hex head bolt that holds this cam, and I'm sure it has backed out and is causing the cam and shifter to not engage the gears properly.

Remove the cam bolt. Spray some compressed air or even a light spray of brake cleaner in the threaded area where the bolt you just removed is. Make sure the threads are clean and dry.

Place the cam bolt and assembly back in its position, and take some RED loctite to the shifter cam bolt threads. Make sure to torque the bolt to specifications, I think it's 24 or 28 nm.

Let the bolt set for 24-8 hours, then reassemble the clutch and replace the clutch cover gasket. Top off the oil and go riding.

How do you remove the seat from a 1985 Yamaha Maxim XJ700S

I have a maxim x 750. If it's similar, then look for a seat lock on the right side (facing forwards). I thought it was the helmet lock but that is on the left side of the bike. Once you unlock the seat lock the seat pops right off.

Use the ignition key for the lock under where the back seat goes, right above the chain. turn the key in the lock and pull up on the cowl, it will come right off, then you can pop the rear pillion "backseat" into it's place

check spark plugs, check for spark. check fuel is good. possible needle and seat gummed up in carb float bowl. disasemble and clean with brake or carb cleaner.do not change float level. re assemble ,you can use the cleaner to help to fire the motor with a shot through the carb. make sure you cleaner says flammable. good luck.

Where is the battery located on a 750 honda shadow spirit?

The Battery is located under the seat you must take out the 2 bolts holding the seat ******** and then slide the seat back to remove then it is under the ignition module and a plastic cover. By the way when you try to remove the battery you will need to gently pry the back of the battery box open to get the battery past the little locking lip. hope this helps.
