The problem could be the water temp sensor that switches on the fan. It is normally located in the radiator and has one wire going to it. Earth the wire out to the frame, if the fans come on the sensor is the problem, if it does not the fault is in the fan unit, wiring or maybe the fuse.

Radiator cores may be dirty or plugged on the inside and also the coolant level may be low. To remove any doubt on the latter, check level at the radiator cap and not at the over flow tank.

Compressor and fans do not turn on until rev engine

I passed this question the first time I read it, so I will take a stab at it now.
The fans don't come on until the compressor has pumped the freon pressure up to say 150 or 200 psi. And the compressor clutch has to have voltage to engage the clutch.
I wonder if the clutch is going and needs 14 volts instead of 12 to engage ? Or the relay that powers the clutch ?
Speeding up the engine would increase voltage from the alternator.
This is assuming the serpentine belt is tight and everything else is working correctly.
I think I would swap the relay with another and put a meter on that circuit to the ac clutch to see what it takes to engage it.

84 to 89 1200s goldwings have a pulse generator

1984 models have the PGs at the back of the engine. The engine has to come out to get at them, or I think you can pull the swingarm instead.
From 1985 the PGs are under the timing belt covers. Still not the easiest to get at.

For the high idle check for broken vacuum hose and vacuum leaks. This is the most common reason. If all of these are good then check the idle air control motor, on the side of the throttle body. These can stick open. for the high heat, first check to maintain enough coolant. It sounds like your coolant system is working properly, so You need to see if the coolant fans are coming on. The is a fuse and three relays that control the fans. When you run your car up to temperture and the fans don't work pull the fuse (30 amp) check it and put it back in. Also pull the relays and put them back in. Most of the time this fixes the fan problem as the fuse or relays just loose thier contact in the box. Let me know

you may want to check and see if the cycling switch is defective...it engages and disengages the clutch on the compressor ..i would check and see if the clutch stops engaging when the a/c starts blowing warm

I can't figure out how to get the belt engaged on my Kirby Heritage 84. There are very simple instructions on the front assembly; however, the belt doesn't engage with the rotor, and the beater bar does not spin. When I have the front twisting section on the "Belt On" setting, it seems as though it actually disengages the belt. I see no faults in any of the mechanical parts, but just can't get the belt to go on the rotor.
(I purchased this machine @ a garage sale on Saturday. It's in perfect condition.)
My vacuum cleaner is a Kirby 84 Legend.
Help! Jennifer

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. You can always check your owner’s manual but the Kirby has a dial on the front of the machine and you needs to dial the belt off of the fan pulley counter clock wise and to check to see if the Kirby bell housing will release @ the top so that you can remove the bell housing. If not then remove the bottom plate and take out the brushroll on one side and then slide the belt off of the brushroll. Then you can slide the new belt onto the brushroll to the center and then re-insert the Kirby brushroll with the screw heads facing downward then you can replace the bottom plate – then use the Kirby spoon or hook to dial the belt onto the fan pulley clock wise. Once that is done then plug in the Kirby and try to vacuum to see if the Kirby is picking up properly, if not repeat the process. If you have a question, feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

1996 buick regal over heating

Hi,
This sounds normal to me..... Except "runs to hot when idling"

When you're driving about (airflow over rad) all seems fine, but when sat in traffic idling - the fans come on to cool. Is the problem that even with the fans running, temperature still goes up - and fans never turn off again?

Is this the problem?

If it is, then the coolant pump may be badly corroded, not driving efficiently, or the coolant needs flushing and replacing.
