Hi
There are two nuts at the rear end.. you will have to sit down and look up where the chassis and the seat meet.
remove each nut from the right side and the left side. Gently lift the seat and pull away from the bike back words....

Berry

I Want to replace front fork seals on my 2004 Yam XT660X and need to know Fluid and Quantity used. Are there any manuals available for this model. I have replaced seals on some of my previous bikes.

If you want to replace them for maintainence ok.If its for a leak ,try this.Get some camera film negative.Usually in the pack of photos.Cut the notches off the side and cut one end at 45%.Slide it up into the fork seal. Now,with a sawing motion ,move it up and down and at the same time, work it around the seal.Any grit that is causing the leak will be felt. When grit is felt, pull it out, clean it and start again. It may take a few times but it works.A lot cheaper than seals all the time.Hope this helps

98 yzf 600R..Right fork leaking. Problem and fix?

it sounds like your fork seal has failed,it wont affect your brakes but will make your front suspension feel a wee bit "soggy"and will affect your handling,i would suggest getting the seal replaced as evetually the oil from the faulty seal will contaminate your brake pads that will affect your braking performance, replacing the seal, sooner rather than later ,would be a wise move..hope this helps...cheers

Replacing the front seal- located on the fork.

To replace the fork seal you must open the top of the fork and remove the spring. Then drop the fork tube out of the clamp. Once the fork tube is removed replacing the seal is simply pulling the old one off and putting the new one on. You will need to remove your front wheel.

2004 honda shadow 600 VLX leaking fork seal bike has 600 miles on it should I replace left and right if only right is leaking.

check first to see if the leaking fork has any rust pitting on the chrome,if it has and its a very small blemish then fettle it off first, and just replace the leaking seal,as the saying goes..if it aint broke dont fix it,if the seals had been in the forks for years and the bike not used then consider replacing both..

Front forks leaking oil

If you're mechanically inclined you could do it yourself. I suggest you get a service manual for the bike, even a Haynes or Clymer manual is very helpful.

The process requires separating the fork tubes from the sliders, disconnecting the front brake and any other cables to the front wheel, then dropping the fork assembly so the inner tubes slide up and out. Then you can pull the seals and put new ones in.
