What do you need to know about this replacement.

It is fairly simple and only takes about 40 minutes tops.

You must be carefull to use the air bleeds and remove the air from the system when you refill it to make sure you dont damage the engine due to hot spots caused by air pockets in the cooling system.

Follow your coolant line (the big one) to your engine, there will be a bulb like attachment on to the intake that is where your thermostat is. Make sure you drain some of your cooland or you will have a mess or cooland, also dont do it when your enging is hot

There is waaaaay more to it than that. It's located under the throttle body and behind the exhaust cross-over shroud and the flat-rate for it is right around 2 hours for a mechanic in an auto repair facility.

HOW TO REPLACE THERMOSTAT

Generally you locate where the thermostat is located. Usually you can follow the upper radiator hose from the radiator to the engine. The thermostat is usually between the end of the hose and the motor under a housing that is bolted to the engine with 2 or 3 bolts, On a cool engine remove these bolts and replace the thermostat. Some cars may be different.

How do I replace thermostat on 2010 malibu

Follow the top heater hose to the engine. Where the hose connects to the engine is where your thermostat is located. Usually 2-3 bolts holding on. Replace thermostat. Be careful to note which way the thermostat comes out of your engine. They only work one way.

Change thermostat on 2005 pt cruiser

    • 1 Pop the hood and locate the thermostat. It's on the passenger side of the engine and has a plug leading into it.
    • 2 Unplug the thermostat housing from the engine block using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket set. The housing will come off in your hand and then you can pull out the old thermostat.
    • 3 Scrape off the engine block and the thermostat housing's mounting surfaces with the gasket scraper. This is to ensure the replacement gasket seals correctly.
    • 4 Place the replacement thermostat into the engine block and place the gasket over the ends of the bolts in the thermostat housing to keep them aligned.
    • 5 Bolt the thermostat housing into the engine block using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket set.

How do you change thermostat and where is the location

remove the coolant cap to relieve the pressure. Follow the radiator hose to the motor. The metalic/aluminum part that the hose is connected to holds the thermostat. 2 or 3 bolts hold it to the engine. remove these bolts & the thermostat. there may or may not be a gaket with your model. If so, replace them both. You will lose some coolant. add coolant when you're done, Make sure the engine is cold when u do all this.

Where is the thermostat and how do I replace it?

  • it is located on the engine (block - in the front).

  • Make sure the engine is completely cool prior to working on the engine. Then place the drain pan underneath the radiator. Open the petcock at the base and let out approximately 1 gallon of coolant.

  • 2

Unbolt the thermostat housing from the front of the engine using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Coolant will pour out at this point, so be ready for it and aim the hose toward the drain pan if possible. Remove the thermostat and the thermostat gasket.

  • 3

Clean all of the mating surfaces on the engine and thermostat housing using the gasket scraper. Then install a replacement thermostat in the housing, with the thermostat orienting the same way as the original. Then install the gasket and the thermostat housing on top of it. Bolt it in place using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket.

  • 4

Open the radiator cap and fill the radiator with the 50-50 pre-diluted coolant. Turn on the car and let it run for 15 minutes while the interior heat is set on the "high" position. Allow the car to cool for an hour, then add any additional coolant needed
