If its an old round buss fuse that screws in the panel(especially an old 60 amp panel),sometimes the center where the fuse lands the insulation gets weak in this area and lets it arc over when the dryer calls for current to heat the element replace this with a sub box and breaker set-up.the other thing it can be is the element is touching the units case and grounding out causing the same problem

No heat and the defrost is the only place air will come out. Some time ago in the spring the a/c would not work then it started working but now the heat does not, and you get no get air flow from the vent...

Check fuse for blower motor, it is a 30amp fuse behind the plastic panel that is to the left of steering wheel, you must open the driver door, open up the fuse panel, I believe the 30amp is the only 30amp fuse in there, If it is blown replace it, then try the heat again. If nothing or fuse blows again, check the blower motor resistor. This is located under the glove compartment. Do a search on google if that is the case, I was able tofind a solution by putting in "blower motor resistor" ended up buying one for @ 30$.

Dryer wont start

Okay...your dryer is one of the more easier dryers to access the heating circuits. All you have to do is unplug the dryer and remove the back panel. The heating circuits will be on the right hand side (as viewed from the rear). The heating element is inserted inside the heater box with the thermal cut-out (TCO) mounted on the top portion of the heat box. The hi-limit thermostat will be located adjacent to the heating element ceramic terminals. You mentioned a thermal fuse also. It is a small white plastic (sometimes gray) looking component mounted on the blower fan housing on the lower left hand side of the dryer (as viewed from the rear).

If the dryer does not run at all, the THERMAL FUSE is a good diagnosis on your part.

If the dryer runs, but does not heat, the THERMAL CUT-OUT, heating element or hi-limit thermostat are your likely problems.

The following link provides you with some necessary guidelines on how to troubleshoot if needed:

Most dryer problems are related to overheating caused by poor ventilation, or overloading. If you need a drawing of your dryer heat components you can reference searspartsdirect.com. Just type in the model number you provided (include the prefix "110", this identifies the manufacturer as Whirlpool). The number should be written as follows: 110.66801691. Look under the "Bulkhead" heading for an exploded view diagram of your dryer. The Thermal Fuse is listed as item 59 (part #3392519). I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you have any questions.

KENMORE DRYER MODEL NUMBER 66912690 WONT HEAT

Check the voltage at the terminal block where the cord hooks up for 220 volts.
Remove the rear panel and check the thermal fuse located on the upper portion of the heat canister.
Check the Hi-limit thermostat on the bottom portion of the heat canister.
Check all the wires for a burned or loose wire.
Check continuity of the heating element.

No heat

The following link will give you advice on what to do for a Kenmore dryer that runs, but doesn't heat:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r630242-dryer_runs_but_not_heat

I get a sense that you may have had clogged ventilation and have cleared it. Clearing the ventilation does not mean just cleaning the lint trap, however. I mention this because many consumers do not know this. The ventilation external to the dryer is what commonly gets neglected. If the dryer was clogged for an extensive period, the heating circuits may have actually over-heated to the point of failure. More than likely you have a blown Thermal Cut-Out (TCO). The TCO acts as a fuse and will blow in over heat conditions. This device in not resettable and must be replaced if bad. The link I provided goes into more detail about possible failed components and how to troubleshoot them. Pay particular attention to the paragraph that discusses proper ventilation as this will prevent future problems for you.

I hope you find this information helpful. Please post back if you require any additional assistance.
