What will cause bluing on front exhaust pipe on 2003 yamaha v-star 1100

Ronald, All stock single wall pipes will blue some time or another. A big cause of Bluing is a badly tuned bike, burning rich or lean putting more heat into pipe.
There are polishes available to remove the Bluing, and some people on forums, they suggest to remove and with high heat paint, put several coats inside of chrome pipes.
Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

2003 v star 1100 brake light running light problem

Here is your solution. The assembly you replaced likely used a double contact bulb, like an 1157.(very common brake light bulb) and the after market you got is only a single contact. If you look at an 1157, you will notice 2 filaments inside. One for full time on, and 1 for bright side switched(brake). If your new light only has one contact, then it is either going to be light full time on, or switched light. The bulb might not be compatible with your bike. Hope this helps.

Is there anything i should worry about when adding brake fluid to my 1100 v-star silerado? should the bike be held straight or on the stand?

I would leave it on the stand and just fill it up to the sight glass marks. Just make sure you don't over fill and spill it on any of your paint. If brake fluid gets on your paint, wash it off with clean water as soon as you can because it has been known to damage painted surfaces.
