Purchased a replacement UMD cover. I know it should fit but for whatever reason the right side (looking down at the back cover) will not snap into place.
Ebay it and it comes for a very cheap price. Then go to Youtube.com and search "how to replace umd door". Make sure its for your model psp though because there is various PSP's. Hope this helps!!!
There are 3 types of PSP around, starting with model number 1000,
this is the first PSP also known as PSP Fat.
PSP model 2000 series, wich has a better screen and more memory on board, it is also thiner als the previous model.
PSP Model 3000 series wich has a microphone and a better screen.
The body parts of all PSP models are diferent, this has to do with the placings of internal hardware components.
Remove the battery from your PSP, underneath is a sticker located with
the model serial number, if you know the serial number, you'll know for what PSP type you need to order parts for.
It would look like this if your UMD door was off.
You should open the UMD door and carefully manually move the laser to the right side of the assembly.
Use a sharp THIN probe to manually move the WHITE gear under the metal housing. It is quite hard to see it in the photos so I put a red star around it.
I usually try and scrape the gears themselves to make sure there is no gunk or debris in the gear.
After this try and see if it is reading UMD again.
This fixes it about 35% of the time.
If none of this is working, it is time to open your PSP unit Or send it in for repair.
