My yamaha ovation snowmobile will idle but not accelerate. feels like an electrical problem, some type of safety. any ideas?

It could be your spark advance. look on the right side of the carb. there is a unit with a couple of wires going to it. that's your spark advance. as the throttle opens it advances the spark and allows for the engine to rev. turn the screw in while holding the throttle open. if that doesn't work try turning it out a bit.
