Why won't it start after running out of gas?

Hi Joe:
Don't know what "it" is, but the fuel pump needs to cycle enough to prime, the carb or injectors need to be filled with fuel.
If it is a carb, remove the air filter and look into the carb...... pump the throttle linkage...... the accelerator pump should squirt gas into the throat of the venturi. If there is no gas, a squirt of gas to prime won't hurt.

Unable to put fuel in car

The tank is not venting properly. If it is a newer model you may have an EVAP control ,problem that controls tank pressures. You will have to have a scan test performed on the system to see what may be at fault

It will only run when u squirt gas in the carb it runs good then but once the gas is gone is shuts off

You need to replace fuel pump, which is electric and located in fuel tank. You need to drop the tank to replace.

Water in gas tank

I would get some fresh gas, about 2 gallons in the tank, a couple cans of dry gas, to soak up the water, and get that thing fired up and drive it till it is empty. Then put in some fresh gas, and another can of dry gas, by then , you should have a nice clean engine and a clean tank. If you have to pull the air horn off and squirt some fuel into the throttle, do it, just to get it going. Once it starts, don't let it quit if you can help it, keep revving it and drive it. It will sput and cough bu it should be ok. The fuel pump should be fine and the filter will clean itself out of the water. Hope this helps.

Where is the fuel sensor? I have a 1987 GMC

What kind of fuel sensor are you referring to?
If you mean the fuel tank level, it is usually in the top center of the gas tank.
There is usually an air sensor that tells the fuel injection processor how much fuel it should squirt, based on time, but it does not sense how much gas actually got squirted.
The oxygen sensor is sort of like a fuel sensor, in that if there is too much fuel, the oxygen sensor will read too low, and the system will reduce the fuel squirt volume. And the oxygen sensor is usually in the bottom of the exhaust manifold or the top of the exhaust pipe.

Unable to put gas in my tank. gas will squirt out

It seems the breather pipe is blocked thus the squirt out of the gas.
This breather pipe should be somwhere around the filler neck, it's like a small by pass.It may need to be unblock.
Hope this helps!

Has power but wont start, has full tank of gas

Its not common but you may have water in your gas. You will need to check engine for both fuel and spark. If the car will start then die off a short squirt of ether then it would be a fuel problem. Then you'll need to find out if it to do with the fuel or the fuel system.

No gas to manifold, car will start adding gas to throttle body

yes gas should be coming out of the fuel line at the motor. if not the pump is bad. you will need to drop the tank to get to it as it is in the tank
