I recently purchased a 2002 BMW 325xi, I was driving to work last week and the oil light came on (yellow). I looked up at the sticker on the windshield and it was time for an oil change, so I called the mechanic and took it in the next day. It ran fine for a few days, on my way home on Christmas my garage was blocked so I parked it outside overnight and most of the next day. That evening I drove it into the garage and the next morning it wouldn't start. It made the grrr noise but never cranked, I tried jumping it, same problem. I pushed it out last night and this morning it still wouldn't start.
I read about oil changes in the service manual and am wondering if all the steps weren't followed that it would be pissed and not start. With the key in the run position I now see the oil light red, the battery light red, and the yellow check engine light.
You just go to the link I attached I'm sure you will get the solution of your problem

It sounds like just a coincidence. I dont know what a GRR noise is supposed to mean. It either Cranks, No Crank, or it Cranks but does not Run. Just tow it to a qualified shop and find out what the problem is.
