Is it possible to use an o-ring chain on a 1997 suzuki gs500, or can I only use a non-"o-ring" type chain? I've got an o-ring chain that doesn't have a master link and so I can't replace the old chain because there's no way to put it on the bike without going around the swing-arm. Is there a way to do this that I just don't know about?

You can use the o-ring chain but make sure the lube you use on the chain is o-ring compatible. Some will affect the o-rings in the chain.Only way to get the chain on is to remove the rear wheel. Its not a hard job.1st time you do it,have a pen and paper handy and draw every washer, spacer and backet as you are looking at it.That way when it goes back together, you have a redy ref. to look at.Make sure you draw each shape of each piece.Draw the axle out very slowly so if anything drops, you know where it came from. Also, lay out every item in the order that it was assembled on a clean flat surface.Work slowly.Hope this helps

My 2005 gs500 from start up is fine. When I rev the engine and the revs come back down to idle it knocks once. Is that normal

The Suzuki GS500 may just need new spark plugs. This is an older bike. If the plugs check out you may want to look around. I don't know how much you know or how far you want to go but. A loose timing chain or sprocket, bad spark plugs, leaking intake manifold, old gas or dirty/faulty carb can cause this symptom.

I would like to know what type of oil to use for my suzuki vitara 2.0 1997 model in Nigeria

The manufacturer recommends using non-synthetic 5W30 motor oil & changing the oil and filter every 3,000 miles

I have a slack spot on my chain and i need to replace it, but the manual doesn't tell me what type of chain it uses, wether it is an x-ring or an o-ring. can anyone help?

Have a look on the chain itself (you will proberly need to clean a few links really well). It is often stamped on the chain links, i.e. 530, 610 etc. You can then count the links and order from any good bike shop.
Otherwise, have a look on a parts supplier website. I recommend wemoto (do a search). They are UK based and very helpful. Find your bike from there list and see if it gives details of the chain you require. They will happily tell you the correct size and number of links if you ask.
The type of chain (x-ring etc) is a 'cost' thing. Again, look what wemoto recommend.

Hy, I have a 1997 Bandit 250 but i cann't find any airfilter for this model here in Hungary. But the GS500 airfilter looks like the same.Is that fit to my Bandit? Thx

I'm in Australia and have a bandit export. I have found a web site for an english company and I have had original parts sent from it at a reasonable price. Check it out wemoto.com

Does the 1996 250 have the o-ring chain?

You can use either an O-ring or non-O-ring chain on the XV250. Functionally there's no difference. It's just that the O-Ring type chains last much longer because the O-rings hold the lubrication in place in the links. Your bike could have either depending on whethet it's ever been replaced and if you're intending to replace it I would certainly recommend the O-ring types. The chain you want for a standard XV250 is a 520-114 ... that's a size 520 with 114 links.
