Vtx 1300 won't start

VTX1300 won't start. Runs for about 2 seconds then won't start. All vacuum lines are connected and fuel is on. Cleaned plugs. They have spark. Took carb off and cleaned it. I still have the problem.

Hi I have had the same problem with my 2007 VTX1300S, the problem was caused by the fuel tap diaphram this comes in two parts on this model the vacumn side and the actual fuel cut off side. the two sides become seperated and cut off the fuel supply. the smaller inner part should fit into the outer main part.

I got the tank off but not sure where the fuel tap diaphram is? Can I find something on line?

The problem is quite common in the US they recalled most of the VTX's due to the diaphram leaking. The usual problem is not starting or only running for a few minutes. It is caused by the fuel tap diaphram, this comes in two parts on bike, the vacumn side and the actual fuel cut off side. The two sides come apart and cut off the fuel supply. the smaller inner part should fit into the outer main part.

The diaphram is on the back of the tap, its best to remove the tap from the tank, so take the tank off and drain it would be safest. Try LINGS Honda web page.http://www.hondaoriginalparts.com/honda_...

Fuel filter clean? Some Honda's have screen strainers in the shut off valve. Remove the guel line with the valve in the off position. With a can in your hand and the can under the valve, turn the valve on ans see if you get a good flow of fuel.

Give it a try.

This requires a vacumm supply to the back of the fuel tap, to open the fuel tap outlet.
