How do I set timing from scratch on 2004 astra, I changed timing belt water pump and all pullies. Timing is out. Thanks in advance.

what engine is fitted? did you get a new timing belt adjuster. did you set it to new and not old. ecotec timing marks are on the cover and inside the cam cover. lower timing marks are on the pulley and on the crank. this should line up with the sump case marking on crank and the pin on the engine on the pulley. you need to rotoa the engine at lest 3 times to check the position of the time. also if you have had the cam sprockets off are they on the right ones as this would make timing out. both cameras are set different, there should be markings on the cmes to say inlet and exhaust. same on the cogs. when adjusting the time rotte engine by hand 3 times and if out on the timing and out of new adjust again until each time you rotate the engine it all lines up. adjustment is best done with the pull off. rota adjuster are anticlockwise to adjust dont do this clockwise, as it will move over time away from the stop pin and cause damage to the engine or timing adjuster.

How to adjust timing belt

The Timing is computer controlled. You would need a computer with the Dodge factory interface and the connectors that hook it to your car to adjust the timing. If the timing belt has been changed and it was installed a tooth or two off it will need to be removed and installed correctly.

Ignition timing for suzuki vitara

A LOT depends on WHICH ENGINE your 1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara is equipped with.Ignition timing is not adjustable on any engine except the 2.5L V-6.
To adjust the ignition timing on the 2.5L V-6, a scan tool must be used to turn off the computer timing control to check and adjust base ignition timing. Base ignition timing specification is 4-6 degrees BTDC.

Just replaced timing sprockets and chain, cover and water pump and the trucks timing is off just a hair, how can i adjust it by the distributor? 1997 dodge 1500 ram 4x4 360 moter

Do not attempt to adjust timing via the distributor. Timing is PCM controlled and is not manually adjustable. Base timing must be set with a factory scan tool when the distributor is locked in. If you attempt to adjust it with the vehicle running, you'll notice nothing changes, but when you shut it off and go to crank it later, it will not crank because the PCM has lost base timing.

Basically, you're going to have to go back and fix your timing problem by redoing your previous repair.

Also, spark timing is different than engine timing so that would only mask the engine timing problem, not actually fix it.

Which timing nitch do u use on pully to do timing on a 96 blaser 4.3 vortec

Hello eggy753: My name is Roger and I will answer your question. GM did put a timing mark and notch on the engine. How every the timing is not adjustable. A quote from All Data and GM.is stated. NOTE. ( The distributor is located in a fixed, non- adjustable position. No attempt should be made to adjust the engine base timing by rotating the distributor. Attempting to do so will result in engine cross fire and mis-fire conditions.Timing is not adjustable }.Static timing is set off of the timing gear alignment. From there the computer controls all timing advance and retarding of the engine timing. Should you need further help lease just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger
