You will need a meter to figure it out.
With the button pushed, you will get 12 volts (or so) to the big wire at the starter motor.
If not, back up to the starter relay, and to the battery, make sure that it has a good charge.
Keep in mind that some of these have a safety not to start without a brake lever pulled in, which is activated by yet another switch.

I have a Poulan 600 series lawn mower n when I got to pull start my lawn mower it's locked up n won't let u get the full pull start to fire it up.

Probably the cable from your safety shutdown is broken. One way to tell is follow the shutdown cable from the top of the handle bar down to the motor which should be attached to a lever on the left hand side of the engine. When you pull the thin handle on top of the handle bar towards you the lever on the side of the engine should move back also.

Why want beater bar turn on Dyson DC17?

There are a few things it could be. Pull the handle back into the vacuuming position and turn the brush bar switch on and off while listening to see if you can hear the brush bar motor turn off and on. If you can hear the brush bar motor running it may need a new belt and/or the brush bar may be seized up.
There is a switch by the main power switch that provides power to run the brush bar motor. There is a micro switch down in the motor area that closes the circuit to the brush bar motor when you pull the handle back. Check electrical connections and all of the above parts to determine which one or one's may be defective.

How do I put a new pull rope on my 5hp MTD Chipper?

pull the starter cover pull rope out to length lock the housing the rope is in, in place with a tool pull out rope. reinsert new rope into retaining hoe tie a not and cut off excess rope. put ropr through handle hole reattach handle and remove tool you used to hold the rope housing. This is if your spring and starter assembly are ok. Or you could stop being a cheap and let a shop do it for 5 minutes labor.

Harley Davidson Starter problem

Maybe.
  • The battery is getting pretty old. I would have it checked with a load tester. Any auto parts house can do this.
  • A bad battery cable (either + or -) or a bad connection on either battery cable will do this also.
  • A bad starter switch (in the handle bar) will do this.

If this was my bike I would
  1. Pull the battery and have it tested.
  2. Clean all the battery cable connections and the starter switch cable connection.
  3. If you want to pull the starter for bench test, this is the time.
  4. Put it together and try it.

hard to mow a lawn pulling the starter cord all the time, lol,,,ok, no spark...you have an engine control bar at top of handle, cable runs from it to engine brake, and this is also engine kill switch. sounds like this cable has stretched. this cable controls engine brake and also kills the spark. you have two problems, and this controls both.

The humming noise you hear is the fuel pump. It is probably your starter soleniod. If you hear an electric click under the dash near the steering column when you turn the key then the ignition switch is ok and your starter needs to be replaced. This happened to me last month.

Will not start. Bench test on starter ok. Power at switch but will not transfer threw. Flag terminal has 12 volts then 0 volts when I plug it to the starter. Not sure what to do.. I will check the safty...

The push button started switch on the handle bars does two things at the same time. It interupts the headlight and closes the circut for the starter. This is common to most motor cycles. The comon problem here is that the switch itself is not well protected from weather and corossion.

Common trouble shoot steps...
Does the starter turn when supplied voltage with a jumper cable. If so started motor is probaly intactact if not bad starter.
Second if you jump the relay for the starter (often near the battery, will have a heavy cable from battery and one from starter) does the starter spin?
If these are OK suspect the switch on the handle bars.
I have to clean mine about every six months but my bike is NEVER in the garage. Idrive it daily and it sits out at night.

Good Luck
