I hate the same problem with mine, it was due to the fan being clogged up with dust, all you need to do is unscrew the keyboard from underneath and move it from the top left, get some tweezers and pull it out and it will be fine.

Overheating problems are associated with poor ventilation and faulty fan. Check the fan to see if it spins freely, if it is faulty replace the fan. Check the fan, heat-sink assembly and vents, they maybe clogged with dust, if loosen the dust and remove/vacuum the dust off these components.
If the laptop has inlet vents on the bottom of the laptop, use the laptop on a flat surface and/or place a pad under the laptop to give it addition clearance to improve air flow under the laptop.
There are also lapop cooling pads that incorporate fan/s available from computer shops and placing a laptop on these pads will provide additional fan assisted cooling for the laptop.

If this is a heat pump unit, there is probably a problem with the four way reversing valve or its solenoid sticking in the heat position.

I would think that the problem is probably related to heat damage.

Take the number of hours you left the computer on, triple it, and thats how long you should leave the computer off. Than try again if not than you might want to think about updating the BIOS.

Warning a BIOS Update is a Last Resort Think very carefully about that before you decide to proceed.

My van has poor heat and changed antifreeze and temp hand stopprd working does that effect heat the temp sending unit
the sending unit will not affect heat but if its broken it will effect the fuel control by giving computer false info, i dont think theres a problem with the temp unit, i think the thermostant is bad and is stuck open or you are very low on coolant, if the thermostat was stuck open then you would get some heat not very hot and would take a long time to get heat. i would start by replacing the thermostat, it is very important to bleed air from system after coolant change or thermostat replacing, after filling run engine until fan turns on , let cool some to release preasure then remove cap start engine and top off, drive for 15min then park let cool and recheck coolant, hope this helps,

My sony vaio pcg-k33 shuts off by itself when i turn it on. i think its the video card cause the fan turns on and stays on when i turn the latop on. so maybe its over heating. Please help
Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the battery.
Buy a can of compressed-air, and give your computer a "blow-job", because a layer of dust inside your computer is blocking your heat-radiators, and thus is causing your computer to overheat.

the problem is not the battery; what has happened is the coolant paste that pulls the heat away from the cpu (main) chip to the fan has dried up. you must remove the fan/heat exchanger off the motherboard and, put new paste on the chips that the heat exchanger sits on

My computer came on somehow in its little travel case and when I noticed it the computer was really hot. Do you think I damaged it and how would I tell?
The computer was probably not turned off to begin with, and thus it was active emitting heat. This heat had nowhere to go since it was in a case and heated the laptop to a high degree. If there is any damage it would be a very, very small amount.
