The g/box in your motor holds about 1/2 litre of oil.It comes in usually 1 litre bottles.Squeeze it in the bottom hole with the spout fitted to the bottle untill it comes out the upper hole and then quickly put the screw plugs back in.Hope this helps

1957 johnson outboard 10 hp fuel mixture ratio

https://www.google.com/search?q=1957+johnson+outboard+10+hp+fuel+oil+ratio

What is the mix ratio for a Johnson outboard motor?

Any Johnson outboard motor built since 1964 requires a 50/1 fuel ratio. Motors built prior to that date require a 32/1 ratio, with the exception of a few fishing motors built prior to 1955 that use a 16/1 ratio.

Johnson 235HP Outboard - oil leaking from bottom leg - dark black so picking it is the two stroke oil

most 2 stroke motors will not burn all the oil in the mix and that unburned oil coats the exhaust leg and leaks out the thru hub exhaust and parting line of the lower to the housing. so keep some windex handy and clean it up.

Need to know how to change lower unit on 1971 johnson 25 hp motor

put into nuetral, undo the five bolts around lower unit, take off sideplate halfway down leg casing, loosen the two bolts clamping the gear rods together, then lower unit should slide down[if driveshaft isnt stuck in the crankshaft spline].assembly is reverse, but take care putting water tube back into rubber grommet, and tighten gear rod clamp only after making sure that g/box is in nuetral, when gear lever also in nuetral,or matched together

How do I check the oil level in the lower unit of a 70 hp Johnson outboard?

remove the bottom drain screw first then place a tube of the proper lower unit oil in it. then remove the top screw and gently squeeze the tube of oil and when full it will slowly come out the top drain hole. when it does replace the lower plug first then the top plug second. make sure the seals are in good shape and plan on changing the oil in the lower unit yearly for proper maintainence. make sure you buy oil designed for your particular type of motor. good luck.
