If it were 2000 and newer the frame number would be 17 digits long and the tenth digit from the left would designate the year. Even the older bikes have more digits than what is shown. Bottom line is that the numbers are not all there. Sorry.

Could you tell me the year in which my kawasaki kx 250 2 stroke was made the engine number is KX250K-E025833. thank you

The engine number will tell you what country the engine was made , what series the engine is and the production number. The frame number VIN is what will tell you the needed info. Call a dealer and give them the frame number and they should be able to tell you what you have.

I need info to deturman what exzat year and make block no. N702-110421

The engine number does not matter. The frame number is what will yeild the information you want. A dealer can tell from the frame number, but if the bike is really old, dealers probably will not be able to tell because old files and reference books get tossed out after many years.

Year? Parts?

The frame number (VIN #) is what will tell you the information needed. Call a dealer with the VIN number ant they can tell you exactly what you have got. Chances are the dealer can tell you. The Timberwolf came in 2x4 and 4x4 models. You can look up the part numbers for both and see if the casings have the same part numbers. If so, you should be able to do a swap out. Check out the part numbers on the frames.

Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part, the part is not in stock. www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrandand/parts.aspx

I bought a kx125h,but the engine# is grind,on the left of cylinder i see a numbr like 1840.can u tell me if thats the bike engine???of what year??thanks BEN

With a grinding of the engine number you can tell very little. Even with the number you can tell very little. Actually, the frame number is the key to identification. Look on the frame just ahead of the gas tank. Between the forks there is a steering stem where the entire front end attaches to the bike. Look on the stem for the number. Any dealer can tell you exactly what you have if given the number.

Year

Find the model production year, usually found on the same plate as the vin. Then add one year. For instance if the bike was produced in 2001, then its a 2002 model.

Frame number

so according to his book my bike does not exist. The book that he is using is titled something like Ducati v twin restoration guide. He is a good mechanic but I would like to find out more before proceeding further with the restoration. Can anyone help ? Thanks in advancehe numbers on the frames and engines mean nothing when working out a model and age. In the factory engines were not matched to frames via their numbers they were simply put together. Any book that gives definite numbers for a model is full of sh!t. A good example is all the pics you see of crates of engines in no particular order. There was no need for an engine to match a frame number so they never went to the trouble. The engines were used in many models and bikes, including your era, the Cagive Elephant etc.... Your bike is probably correct, even though the book says it shouldn’t exist. The numbers for the books come from the first number to just the last number, and are not necessarily relevant for any number in between.,,,
