I have a 1985 Honda spree scooter it starts fine idles fine but when I pull the struggle and won't move there's no power... any idea what I should look at

Sounds like a clogged main jet in carburetor, requires dissassembly and cleaning; or water in carb: drain carb at drain screw located on bottom of carburetor; or due to age you have an air leak caused by rotten rubber parts ie; vacuum hoses, rubber carb mounting boot etc... You can spray around these areas with aerasol carb cleaner while idling to locate the leak. engine will die when leak is found.

My 2002 honda xr200r will only start with full choke on and at that I must play with throttle

Although there are three positions to the choke, full choke is applied in the Up position. If you are having problems starting the bike try adjusting the idle and air adjustment screws. Idle is on the side and air is centered under near the float bowl. Consult the owners manual for the # of turn out from an easy seat. If that doesn't work remove the carb and all jets and screws and clean. also make sure that the decompression cable is in good working order!

Honda CRF 230 RPM does not drop to idea all the time when grip released. It is not a mechanical issue hanging up as it is against adjustment idle adjustment screw, but engine stays at high idle unless you...

If all the mechanicals are okay, I would check for an air leak between the carb and the cylinder. Loose mount clamps/screws and/or cracked rubber fittings can cause the problem you describe.

Honda shadow 1100 will not idel unless choke is all the way on

Okay, let me see if I can help you out...it may not be the jets in the carburetor. Hondas, like most other street bikes, have an idle adjust screw on the carburetor. Most times, you can adjust that screw to get your idle at 1000rpm, which is the norm for idle speed.

The screw is not hard to identify; the easiest way is to first, take the air cleaner and intake off. Then watch the carburetor throttle linkage while you twist the throttle. You will see where the throttle cable connects to the carb and there will be a spring-loaded screw right there. Turning that screw adjusts the static (idle) position of the throttle plate; turn the screw so the plate moves in the same direction the throttle cable pulls it.

I'm willing to bet that adjusting this screw will get your idle back to normal. If it doesn't, come back here and let me know; I will then lead you through a procedure to fix the carburetor. Cheers!

Honda cr125 idle issues, wont idle not sure whats going on????

ALWAYS have a fire extinguisher on hand when working on carburetors.
Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Is there any water or trash in the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the tank. Is there any water or trash in the cup? Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ).

Drain the carburetor. There should be a screw on the lower side or a plug on the bottom of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw/plug then replace it after the fuel drains. Remove the carburetor from the engine.

Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the idle screw and the air screw on the outside throat of the
carb and spray into the screw holes as well. The diagram below depicts the problem area. The bike will idle properly once the pilot jet and related passageways are cleared.

Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two adjusters down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each adjuster one and one half turns outward. Put the
carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine.

this is monocylinder bike. Whatta you call dual carb??? There is only 2 screw on the carb. Idendify your carb model by researching on google, then look for the exploded view on the website of the carb builder, and you'll find more info... And if it works allright, DONT MESS WITH IT!

The stock main jet is #165. The number is stamped on the side of the jet. A richer jet would be #168. A leaner jet would be #162. Play with jet sizes to get the best overall performance at mid- range to high speed.
Can I get a “very helpful” rating on this answer?
