Question about 2004 Yamaha YZ 250 F

1 Answer

MY 2006 yz250f is overheating too i think... i had a smashed left radiator and ever since i replaced it, my coolant spews out of the overflow tube when i really get on the gas. if i just putt around it doesnt leak, but when i ride it hard is when it pours out of the overflow.. is this overheating? or is this a flow problem? ive already checked for clogs, replaced the cap, and cheched the impeller... cant figure it out???

Could pieces of old radiator be somewhere in the engine? Sounds like a clog to me...

Does it it pour out to the point where you have no water/coolant left?Does the bike actually overheat. If you fill up the radiator and ride it hard, does it overheat or is it just the normal expansion of the water.Does it spew out water/coolant after 2 rides if you have not touched anything? If you fill them up full, some will come out.We just need to know how much comes out.Mate.Glad to help you

It's possible your head gasket needs to be replaced. It sounds like combustion pressure is being introduced into the cooling system to me and the head gasket would be the logical place for this to occur.

Radiator problem what would cause a 2003 Kia Spectra to spew coolant, but the temp gauge does not read out? Plus there is no bubbling noises when I stop the car and shut it off.

I can think of a few things to check...
If the engine got hot, and the thermostat didn't open, you'd get spewing coolant.

If the water pump is bad, it will do that, too.

If the temp sensor isn't working, you won't be able to tell if it's hot.

If you've blown the head gasket, it'll spew, and the coolant may smell of exhaust.

If the radiator cap isn't holding pressure, it will spew well before it's overheated. Most cars now have 15 PSI (Pounds per sq inch) radiator caps, and that raises the boiling point of the collant quite a bit.

I have a 1995 pontiac trans sport and when it gets hot it spews out coolant and here lately it has been overheating i noticed the spewing about a week before it overheated and i've checked the coolant...

It can only be one of 3 things:The termostat is stuck closed, you have a cracked head or head gasket,or the water pump impeler is brocken inside the water pump.Good luck with this problem.

Toyota previa over heating

It could be the thermostat replac eto be sure but also check to make sure the cooling fan is coming on periodically observe engine idling after the motor warms up the fan should come on after 5 - 10 minutes idling if not replace either the fan relay or the coolant fan switch

Losing water

If your temperature gauge is correct and you're only at 200 then I suspect the radiator cap is either not tight or possibly the radiator has something interfering with a good seal. Proper coolant should not boil until well past 220 degrees, probably closer to 250 (under pressure in your system). Is your reservoir filling up and then overflowing or are you just getting coolant out of the tube?

ya i have a yz250f and learned from a first hand experience that any racebike 2 stroke or 4 stroke doesnt like to idle for a few minutes without moviing. i started up my bike and let it sit for 8 minutes to warm up and antifreeze started spewing out. so i cut it off and called a friend that races. he told me these bikes need air moving through them otherwise they overheat easily and the antifreeze over flows because it expands. if i actually read the manual the book says not to let the bike stand and idle for more then 3 minutes cause after that amount of time it should already be warmed up.
so its just the bike over heating and make sure to top off your coolant the next time u ride

Aerostar engine runs hot

I believe your thermostat is stuck in the closed position. It's not allowing coolant to circulate and cool off in the radiator. The water coming out of the tube is from the radiator overflow tube. The super-hot coolant is expanding and has no where to go since the thermostat is stuck. Replace the thermostat and use a new gasket set. Its an easy job if your handy with tools.

Water bypassing radiator cap and exiting via overflow tube

as the problem started after the new cap was fitted
I suspect that the new cap was not correct for the application
I would leave the mixture alone until I checked the cap
