The engine light is on. Sometimes while driving lets day 30 mph it will die suddenly. Try to start and it will turn with now explosion inside the cylinders. If wait a minute or two it will start. It can run for a while but if stop at a corner then it will die again. Sometimes it will start back at the first try sometimes it will not. When it does not start you can smell the raw fuel coming out which indicate there is fuel being injected to the cylinder. I added premium fuel and the light goes on while is running. The minute it dies again the engine light comes back up. Yesterday was doing it evry hour or so, today is every 5 minutes. Is this an electrical issue or fuel pump??? Help.

I have a 2003 jeep grand cherokee laredo same problem, kept stalling on me.it would start fine but after 25 minutes running the car would shut off.had to wait for it cool off to get it to start again.i first thought it was a bad fuel pump but it turn out to be a bad camshaft sensor and bad crankshaft sensor.had to take it to pepboys to put in the crankshaft sensor could not reach the sensor .Mechanic had to drop the transmission to connect this sensor.Car is now working fine.

HI:
sounds like you have multiple problems, but maybe not. One thing you have to do first is have your Jeep scanned to see what exactly is tripping the light. Most auto parts stores will do this for free. This way you can start looking in the right area for the problem. Once you get the code, and the faulty area, you can move forward from there.

The check engine light comes on whenever a fault is detected in the electronic controls of the engine or emission system or the transmission, to find out what this fault is you need to have a OBD 2 fault code test run, there are over 200 possibilities here that can cause this ligfht to come on.

Sounds like you overheated, the clicking sound could be preignition ping. Check coolant lever. Don’t fill when hot, let engine cool down before refilling coolant

Set timing mode 1995 cadillac deville

Depending on the trouble codes, it may be the ECM. (computer)
You can have the car scanned for codes or attempt it yourself.
The "set timing mode" is the section of the computer program that you access to change the base timing. It should not show up on the display unless you access it.

Start of day. Engine starts and runs fine. Drive 5 minutes to school. 1 hour later, try to start car. Cranks and cranks. Will not turn over. (Lights: key-in-ignition-position: all lights turn off but check...

There are usually three things that cause this problem. Either 1. your car is intermittenly having the power supply to the ignition interrupted, i.e., loose battery cable or ground, or ignition module, etc 2. your alternator is failing intermittenly, or 3. Your fuel pump is going out. The most common is the fuel pump, especially with your symptoms. The way you test, is, when it won't start, shoot a little fuel into the throttle body, and see if it hits and dies, or hits and keeps going, etc. These things are notoriously intermittent, and of course, you can only troubleshoot something when it's currently not working. As for the alternator, you'll usually have some other warning sign, such as a battery light, or failure of instruments, etc. As for the ignition module, it's more of a remote chance that I included as an option. Hope this helps you out.

My 2003 Chevy Malibu suddenly lost power climbing a hill. The engine light started flashing. I was able to drive it home at 30 mph.

Could either be the ignition system - ie, coil packs, fuel filter, fuel pump, or bad gas. Was it sputtering?
