It should be a large hose plugged onto a lug of the frame on the left side of the bike right behind the lower end of the primary case back where the clutch is. It's a hose that just looks like it goes into the frame. Just take it loose from the lug on the frame and the oil drains from the tank. It helps if the oil is at operating temp.

Where is the drain plug on a 2000 1200 sportster

It's probably not a plug. Lood for a short hose on the left side of the bike down low back behind the primary cover. It looks like it plugged onto the frame. It will probably have a different hose clamp than the rest of the hose connections. Simply pull the hose off and the oil runs out of the tank.

Good luck

I have a 2000 sportster,883.where do you drain the engine oil, when changing it.

Look on the left side of the bike somewhere below the battery and behind the primary cover. You'll see a hose with a plug in it or a hose that simply plugs onto a stub on the frame way down low on the frame.

Good Luck

I have a 1976 ironhead, how much oil should be in the case were the clutch cable goes

Most of the old ironheads have a "level screw" in the side of the outer primary cover. It's located near the bottom front of the case and is usually a phillips head screw. Stand the bike up straight and remove this screw and the round access plug at the top of the cover. Pour oil in until it starts to run out the "oil level hole". It takes about a quart of oil if the primary has been drained. Use H-D Primary lube for Sportsters in this case. Good Luck Steve

Where is the drain plug located?

Look on the right side of your bike down under the battery. You should see a hose with a "spring clamp" on it. Squeeze the clamp and pull the hose off of the lug on the frame to drain your oil tank. Helps if the oil is warm.

There is a hose between the down tubes at he rear of the frame that looks is attached to the frame, it looks like it is sending fluid into the frame. It isn't, it is a nibble to attach the drain line to.
