If three of the four spark plugs are firing good you can eliminate the coils. Most likely if only one plug is fouling with oil it is a leaking valve seal or a broken ring. To determine which is the problem, remove all four spark plugs and complete a compression test of each cylinder. Write down the results to compare with the next step. Each cylinder should be within ten percent of the others, Now, squirt about a tablespoon amount of oil in each cylinder. If there was low compression on the #2 cylinder and the compression increases substantially with the oil inserted you have a broken ring. If there is low to no compression on the #2 cylinder you have a burnt valve. If the compression does not increase and the spark plug fouls with oil you have a bad valve stem seal.

My jeep liberty threw a code:P0303 Cyl #3 Misfire

#3 cylinder is either 3rd from fron on front to back engine or third from left on sideways engine (assuming 4 cylinder engine) misfire could be fouled or bad plug, injector fouled, bad coil, bad wire, bad sensor...lots of things can cause this. I would have all codes cleared and then see if it comes back and if it does what other codes show up as well.

I have a 1999 jeep cherokee that has intermitant transmission problems 1)shifting up it wind out to 2k-3k before shifting 2) at higher speed it feels as if it slips out of overdrive rpm increase but speed...

It will shift out of overdrive upon increasing throttle , pulling hills and so on. Your overdrive probably kicks in around 35 to 45mph and kicks back out as you increase throttle. Electrically controled speed sensor to control the response. Overwise the engine would bog down to a stall. Over drive is just that. It changes the gearing ratio to over drive meaning less then final gear 4 to 1 down to 4 to 3 etc more direct drive ratio to lessen consumtion of fuel with less stress on engine. Have shift speed sensor adjusted. Don't drive in overdrive in city if most driving is under 45mph

Engine runs extremely rough, seems to be fuel related, new fuel pump & filter installed, pressure good, run 2 bottles of injector cleaner through. Can't get to stay running under load. 1998, chev....

Have you changed the plugs, if any are fouled out or if any are worn, it takes more to fire it under load and may be spark knocking because one of the plugs can't fire off all the gas and cause it to skip or idle rough.

The car will not start. the engine turns over but will not start i have spark and gas... 3.4L 1994 firebird

1.= HOW MUCH FUEL PRESSURE DO YOU HAVE?
YOU NEED AROUND 30 TO 45 LBS.
2.= MAKE SURE YOUR FUEL PRESSURE DOES NOT DROP RAPIDLY AFTER YOU SHUT YOUR KEY OFF.
IF IT DROPS REPLACE YOUR PRESSURE REGULATOR.
3.= YUOR PLUGS COULD BE FOULED TOO, IT HAPPENS.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH FUEL PRESSUR THIS WILL CAUSE YOUR INJECTORS TO RUN RICH.

Car will turn over fuel seems to be pumping can smell it but wont fire checked plug wires they seem to have good connection any ideas what to ckeck first

Check to see if the spark plugs are firing,if not ,the most likely cause is the ignition module,in the distributor.Remove it,and have it checked,at the auto parts store.N A P A auto parts can check it I know,if it checks bad, replace it,if it checks good, replace the pick up coil in the distributor.Either module,or pick up coil, witch ever is replaced,it would be a good idea,to replace the spark plugs also, they most likely are gas fouled.

Foul plug

It seems your piston ring needs to be replaced since its worn out. i am saying so because of the way the bike is being used. Since its 2 stroke, engine oil from the sump is making its way int the firing chamber and depositing on your sparkplug. Therefore pay special attention to the last ring, thats the one which uses the oil for lubrication...........sodeep

Mis-fire

These tiny spark plugs will foul easily just from normal choking or even in-town riding at low throttle. Sounds like one or more cylinders drops out at times. Pull and clean the plugs, especially inners ( #2 and #3.) The sooty look is not far from a misfiring condition, so get them good and clean. Sometimes spraying firing tips with carb cleaner and then burning them with an oxygen/acetylene or other type torch can help bring back good firing metal. Unless you have a clogged carb or jet from dirty fuel or running without air filters. I bet the bike comes to life at higher rpms right? Fouling plugs. Numero uno cause for this symptom. THanks TT

overheating could be caused by a stuck thermostat or a clogged radiator not firing on #1 plug could be a fouled plug or bad wire or it may be grounding on the block and your coiil may not have been put in at the right mark
