Question about Suzuki GSF 1250 Bandit S Motorcycles

At 3500 miles the fuel pump went out. Replaced. Now at 7500 miles it's gone out again. Are they bad pumps or caused by low voltage?

What has failed in the fuel pump? Is it still covered by warranty? It could be that the pump is getting clogged by rubbish in the fuel or filter.

It could be a bad or defective pumps or the way they routed the wires is causing to much voltage to go through and burning them up prematurely.
but i would do a visual of the wires leaving the pump and making sure it isnt rubbing on the frame somewhere.

have exhaust shop check your catalytic converter ,for free,if you have more than 100k mile,if that turns good, check your fuel pressure,if pressure low ,first buy fuel filter if that, didn't help, then you may need fuel pump, assuming you already checked the 12 volt goes to pump( bad or dirty ground wire to pump causes low voltage to pump, therefor low pressure under load)

Can a faulty ignition switch ALONE cause 0 fuel pressure when cranking?

If you have 100,000 miles or close to it you needed or would need a fuel pump anyway.Your mechanic sounds like a knowledgeable skilled honest one, he didn't even charge you for some items.
Stick with him/her as you both will get all the problems solved.
The work he has done is smart logical work so far.
Next time it does not start right away, keep cranking the engine to get the oil pressure up.If it starts when the oil pressure builds it may be you are not getting a prime cycle when you first turn on the key some times.

Constantly burning out fuel pumps

Running low on fuel can put a strain on fuel pumps, but this fuel today also has a bearing on it also,Have you changed brands?A different fuel pump brand might help, also,if you are running a amp for the sound system, this puts a load on the alternator, and low voltage will cause this situation also, the fuel pump is a motor, and if the voltage flows too slow threw the pump motor,it will finaly burn out, check the alternator out put,it should be reading at the battery 13.65 volts to 14.25 volts with the head lights on,and the ac blower on high setting.

check for voltage at the pump. If it has 12v there, (and a good ground) then pump is bad. there may be a pump fuse on the fuse block (can't remember) but if you find it has blown, the pump may be getting ready to fail. If fuse fixes the problem, replace it and carry an extra with you, then change the pump.

Fuel pump.

I have a 2000 ford focus and there was a recall for a defective fuel pump. THe dealership replaced it for free. You should check Ford recalls for this problem.

Lose power while driving

Hi. I had the same problem on my 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins. I went to the dealer and they did a bunch of diagnostics and they replaced my fuel pump. At the same time they put in a retrofit kit that moved the fuel pump to the inside of the gas tank. I have not had the problem since. The cost was about $1,200, but my 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty covered it and I had to pay the $100 deductible.
