Check pulse coil generator system...i had a similar problem and found out that one of the two pickups was burnt. mine was on the left side of the bike under side case cover but i just followed the wire harness up till i got to the first disconnect and ohmd out the four wires looking for 400-450 ohms...well i only got 136ohms on one and the other was completely open. Also make sure your getting 12v to the coil... turn key on and just probe the little wires on the coil till you find it. then you'll know that its not a broken wire at least. Can i get some feed back, Thanks!

Hi, I have a 1982 gsx 1100 Suzuki sitting on the bike from left to right what is the firing order if left coil is 1-3 & right coil is 2-4? thanks

Hi, Nigel "Fast Cat" says all the inline fours are the same in this (that I know of, maybe BMW does it differently, but every Japanese inline-four I ever saw was the same) sitting on the bike, from left to right, the cylinders are 1-4... there are two coils, and the one coil fires cyls 1 and 4 and the other fires cyls 2 and 3. you can swap 1 and 4 or 2 and 3, it makes no difference at all, but you can't put the 2-3 coil on cyls 1 or 4 and vice versa... you should be able to just take the long spark plug wires and put them on cyls 1 and 4 and the shortys go to cyls 2 and 3. Firing order is 1-4-2-3 For more information about your issue and valuable "FREE" downloads that you will need please click on the links below. Good luck and have nice a day. 1992 gsx750f rev counter showing double of what ot should

Hi Dick, this scenario is usually caused by a mis-wiried ignition coil, changing from a single fire coil to a dual fire or vice versa.

I have a 1988 1100 katana #1 and 4 is not firing what is it ?

Your coils should be running 1 and 4 and 2 and 3, so the 1 and 4 is shot. Look on ebay for a pair, or borrow one to see if that is the problem Should be it.They go bad. Hope this helps.

Do u know the firing order for a 89 suzuki

89 Katana uses two coils, one fires cylinders 1 and 4 together and the other fires 2 and 3 together. It's a waste spark system. So your firing order is either one coil or the other every revolution.

Timing & firing issues

G'day. I can help you here! On all early model japanese 4 cylinder motorcycles,
number 1 & 4 cylinders share one coil( the left hand coil as seen while sitting on bike). Number 2 & 3 cylinders shares the other.

L/H coil- 1 & 4
R/H coil-2 & 3

What order do the wires go coming off the coils to the plugs

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Almost always, seated on the bike the lefthand ignition coil supplies cylinders 1 (extreme left) and 4 (extreme right) while the right hand supplies the mid 2 & 3.

Good luck and thank you for using Fixya.
