If there is no radiator fan to cool it off , it will sure get heated up if the bike is on a stand.
Its the wind tht blows through the radiator once the bike is in motion tht cools the fluid.

Wr450 exaust glowing after running

Hi, Alison a YZ/WR is a motocross bike designed to run flat out that being said if you are strolling down some scenic trail at a slow pace or letting the bike idle for a few minutes your header pipe will turn cherry red, why you ask? It is not a street bike, it is designed for competition and weight is a major factor all necessary components are of the smallest and lightest design necessary to maintain performance under extreme conditions ie. small radiator and inside frame oil reservoir that doesn't get cooled, the majority of your riding needs to be at high speed. 2006 dyna street bob. mistakenly drained the primary like others. can i use regular oil in a pinch

Your bike came with H-D Syn3 20W50 engine oil in the engine, primary, and transmission. You can use most any oil you wish in the primary on a temporary basis but I wouldn't go any higher viscosity than straight 30 weight. The 20W50 oil is the same viscosity as a 20 weight oil when it's cold. When hot, it's the same as a hot 50 weight oil. The primary really doesn't need a specific type of oil. The "old timers" would put automatic transmission fluid in the primaries of their bikes. All it basically needs is something to lube the primary chain and sprockets. With the bike standing straight up, fill the primary until the oil is just up to the bottom of the outer clutch shell. Do not overfill or you'll have difficult finding neutral with the engine running and the clutch will drag.

Good Luck
Steve

Ive bought a bike (1998 suzuki bandit thats been standing for a few years starts great but needs a good service whats the best way to go about this) im thinking of emptying it of all fluids (petrol and oil...

run some seafoam through the tank to clean up a little of the crud thats bound to be in the lines and carbs, check all the fuel and brake lines, flush the brake fluid both front and rear, change the oil filter, air filter, and spark plugs. get a shop manual and go from there.

Ive got a 2008 wr450. the head light and blinkers

Go to this site and get a manual, it will give you the wiring diags etc and make your job much easier. I looked it up on my bikes manual and these items are on different fuse lines so I am buggered too. You may have some poor earths, that could cause your problem.

My bike won't start

First make certain the fuel is fresh ,and drain any old fuel out of the carb ,small screw at the bottom of the float bowl.when dry turn fuel on ,if flow starts again no blockage .start bike now,if no fix, remove spark plug if it is dry the carb is blocked . touch plug to cylinder head and start be carefull not to shock yourself use pliers . If no bright blue spark check side stand cut out switch ,kill switch . if the battery has been left uncharged for more than 2-3 months replace as wont work well. to check for seizure remove plug and push bike in first gear you should hear and feel the engine turn.

Daytona 955i running hot

That is quite normal - these bikes run very hot and will typically reach temp where fan kicks in (103 deg C) while bike is sitting at idle, even if not particularly hot weather. Needs good airflow through the rad to keep the temp down.
Fortunately, when fan comes on it lowers the temp quite quickly.
