Your best bet would be to take the VIN down to your nearest dealer. They can tel what year it is and either show you a diagram or sell you a manual. Good luck hope this helps.

When you say it keeps doing the same thing do you mean the wires keep burning, sounds as though you need to be finding a new wiring loom am sorry, if you carry on riding the bike you will eventually cook all of your expensive charging/and ignition components rendering the bike as scrap
A service manual is a very valuable tool, esp. with a bike of that age. Dealer, mfr. and clymer books are sources for that. Meantime, the public library may have your info in the 646 stacks of reference section.
Not sure about 2nd plug. If its wired, then its to insure you get ignition in the cylinder. Some mfr's did that for a while.
